What did you do with your Grenadier today?

Had a blast with some incredible folks just several hours ago. Red Noland of Colorado Springs set up the first event of 2025..."Ineos Grenadier 2025 Winterfest"!

Thom Buckley, Co Owner of Red Noland dealerships, puts on these events to build a sense of community, learn some things, and bottom line have a blast!

We had nine Grenadiers for the run and enjoyed every minute of it. Thom had moved a bit ahead and set up a lunch spot where we had a campfire and ate delicious chili and cornbread with hot cider!

That was a great trip - Thom, Lisa Lynn, Travis and crew put on a memorable time and what I liked most was the active ambassadorship: Travis let a “stranger” in a Jeep wheel the shop demonstrator UP Moab Hill! That guy was truly impressed! From new owners, to folks already in the body shop (!), to folks approaching 80 - without locking diffs - totally hanging with the experienced drivers… one guy had an Inky Black that I doubt had ever seen a coat of dust! I put sound insulation in all doors. Open the doors, taped up the windows and removed the window lift mechanism assembly. Places the sound deadener on the door sheet metal, from bottom all the way up to the interior of the door handles.

Also installed the sound deadener in the trunk under the plastic cover directly on the sheet metal.

This really helped make the cabin quiet. Highly recommended.

If interested I can share what material I used for the sound deadener.

On my way to work, in a place that does not usually flood there. The engine suddenly stopped, so I guess it is hydro-locked.

The truck is immobile, as I cannot reasonably get access to the neutral bolt, (the water is barely above freezing and it is moving at quite a rip). Ineos/AA recovery say they cannot do anything until the water recedes, so there we are.

So sad to hear your troubles man !! From the picture it does not seem high enough to get water in the engine , unless you really gunned it into the water .

Sorry man hopefully you get sorted .

Easy way to make sure if water got in the engine is checking the filter . If that is dry maybe there is another reason for it .

What is scary is just how immobile the Grenadier is without a working engine and gearbox. It's in park and won't be moved from it, the neutral bolt would require a scuba set and a dry suit to access. Not something I imagine many over-landers will pack.

My car is a Feb/June 2023 model and also has got this little lever.

I really feel for you.
That doesn't look deep enough to be hydro-locked. I know it is a diesel so shouldn't be electrically compromised, but I do wonder if something electrical has gone on to shut off the fuel system.

When you say it “suddenly stopped” did it sputter and die or just shut down? It doesn’t look too deep for wading so I’m optimistic that it is some type of electrical safety shut off. Did you have it in wading mode when it happened?

Next step in prototyping my rear setup underway.
Keeping in mind this is only a prototype using off cuts of 12mm non structural plywood.
I will probably make the final product out of 15 mm structural.
I have some rubber backed marine carpet on the way
I am thinking of making the folding panels a double fold type so they come down below the seat backs, But really that doesn't bother me as I don't look out the rear windows and I typically have the rear loaded above the seat height anyway.
I am happy with using the occy strap to hold the folding panels up but will make up my own fridge slide and cage.
I will change the cigarette outlet to a screw in Military connector. I have a few lying around here.
My wife gave me this little BRass Monkey 25 litre fridge/freezer for my birthday which is big enough for my needs.
Work trips of 2-4 days I want to take some water, cold press coffee and cold meat and salad to make up some wraps for lunch.
Save me eating roadside take away rubbish.

It will also get used for trips to the butcher and shops as that is a 35 km round trip and it is current 32 degrees.
Good part about the beast is I can leave power on to the fridge when the engine is off and the vehicle is parked just by hitting the PWR button up front.
No need to adjust or add any wiring.

Unless you went in at a crazy pace (which I doubt) that water isn't very deep.
No chance that would get to your air intake and drown the vehicle.
I have done much deeper than that.
 
Took the Grenadier out for the first week of early trout season on the Driftless. We’ve had very little snow this year - just a bit “brisk.” A balmy 17F when I arrived at my spot at 10:30 this morning. Guides kept icing up and tangling my casts - AND THAT IS THE FINAL AND UNDISPUTED REASON MY CASTING WAS LIKE A DRUNK WITH THE DT’S. No other explanation comes to mind. A bush also picked my sling bag and stole my net. Must have been a FIB from Chicago.

There are airbag sensors in the doors. If you don't get the computer go to deep sleep you'll have an airbag error that only a dealer can reset. Yea, I had to make a trip to see the dealer. Took them 1 minute to reset it, most of the time was spent on booting and logging into the computer... ;:

Update on the power for the fridge.
After 6 hours with the vehicle turned off the voltage dropped to 11.4V and the fridge stopped working.
 
Yes but all accessories run from the main battery not the auxiliary battery.
Car said 11.9V without engine on and fridge was alternating between 11.6 and 11.9

F1 is voltage drop/low voltage, I have the same fridge in my work van, it should work even @ 11.9v. Turn the fridge to ECO mode not MAX, rewire the lead into the fridge with some decent gauge wire and fit an Anderson style connector if you already haven't.

Oddly I was doing exactly the same test at the weekend with a fridge plugged into the supplied 12v supply in the boot and got very similar results, ( Start 12.4 main 12.4 aux , after 3.5hrs 11.9 main, 12.4 aux). the "Main" battery showed a draw but the "Aux" didn't move, engine off and the aux power button on.

I assumed I got confused, as was doing other things and this test was a side line, but you've got me wondering now too, what's drawing from what?

More investigation required.
