Worked out that there's very little support on the bonnet wings, 3mm checker plate would vastly help.

Unable to post the video, says file too large.
I was under the impression that if the chequer plate was ordered, there was also reinforcement to allow the 150kg weight rating.

Well, didn’t find it yet. But also why is it there if you can’t use it? (Didn’t look for it neither as there is an electronic procedure to see this)
Hi, I can’t find the thread now but on 8 September a member kindly posted a screenshot of the dipstick location on the diesel engine. It is there but in a tricky position under a hose. I gave up! 😎

Even if you can’t use the dipstick to check oil level it would still be nice as the vehicle ages to be able to pull the dipstick and have a little look at the condition of the oil, look for water in the oil, look how dirty the oil is etc, to smell it for fuel contamination etc. Could potentially even stick a thin hose down and get enough out to send for a test.

I recall reading that the plate on the bottom of the sump was changed completely in shape and volume and the dip stick wasn't.
Potentially could refill from empty and "calibrate" the dipstick level after adding each litre to say 5L then every 250cc until the total required (?6.5L) plus whatever for the filter.

That was the original impression. However some kind soul (will try and find thread) updated that there was no extra reinforcement made, just chequer plate riveted on top.

Fitted the Titan Boot liner. Seems decent.
Laid the Halfords mat on top.
Moved in the Transk9 D4 dog cage which is a tick long but even with the rear door table it fits.

Fitted M&M dash cover in charcoal.

As I get sometimes a Engine oil level low warning the last days, I moved my car 10m in my garden at a location where it was "level":

Then I tried to do the oil level check, but couldn't!

20230924_112207.jpg

I see two possible reasons:
  • the level is OK, therefore it shouldn't be measured
  • my car is 4m below sea level, therefore the computer thinks it is not safe to perform the measurement
The Service in 0 day warning means in reality Service in 887 km!:

Anyone succeeded in doing the oil level measurement?

Just had my longest and best days driving in my Grenadier today. What a vehicle we’ve done 283km today on a mixture of good tar roads, bad and muddy dirt roads and mountain switchbacks. I have the petrol version and I’m loaded fully inc a roof load. I’m absolutely loving it. More than enough power and it sticks to the road like glue. Driving conditions have been awful , torrential rain and strong Winds for 1 and 1/2 days. No camping for us yet as conditions too bad. But a fantastic Airbnb apartment for £43 a night 😎. Alternator charging batteries to 100% so all good. Driving dirt roads fully loaded and driving hard I’m getting 15mpg (imperial) Sticking to 100kph around 18mpg on good tar roads but the awning ,roof rack and all the kit on the roof definitely cause a lot of drag.
Sometimes when I start up I am not getting any errors or noises and another time i have various error messages and noises. At one point we couldn’t stop the noise of a constant airbag warning Had to turn the car off and go and have a beer, after that not a single error message in the next hour of driving. . Hopefully the software update will fix this.
Checkout the ostrich in the second photo. Stupid animal wouldn’t get out of the way.😂
I must say we are getting a lot of attention in the Grenadier. so many thumbs up and waves from other drivers. At one point on a fast road a driver in a Porsche came up behind us then pulled along side to give thumbs up then in front slowed up so we could pass at speed to show off. Same happened with a Landcruiser driver. Slowed up in front of as so we roared pass then slowed up for him to pass and wave at us. What great fun and the Grenadier gets so much attention in the petrol garages from the locals.
We re loving life. 😍

Oh and yesterday caught up with another fellow forum member from South Africa. @Francois we met up for a chat mainly about Grenadiers, also some tips of where to go and left with an arm full of game meat and boervors sausage. Thankyou Francois. 🙏🏼

Hi @ECrider would you please send a photo of the dash cover.Thanks.
Sure Rovie. Apologies not the best.

Went for charcoal even though seat covers are sand. I found the sand colour too reflective and too much sand together with the covers which are excellent.

Dash cover a bit overkill but adds some storage. Permanent in front of the passenger and a velcro attaching bag (same style) for the driver.

Thank you very much @ECrider 🤗
What kind of reflections did the sand colored dash cover produce?
Reflections can be bothering. Last time I realized that the central display mirrors in the side window at night which can be disturbing…
Does M&M produce different style covers?

Are these fixed in any way or just thrown over? It’s not easy to find detailed information :-(

I found the sand one reflected too much for me in bright sunlight. The charcoal one gave off a fair bit less They are attached with velcro in all four corners and also around the central and driver display. Probably the adhesive will suffer a bit in summer sun but it's horizontal so doesn't need much. Mine does not have the cutout in front of the driver where the tray is. It is whole with two velcro strips to take the detachable bag. Which considering the flat tray is useless for me I do not miss.

Hello @ECrider Thank you for the photos. I don't find this cover so practical. I wouldn't know what to put there either, especially as it's exposed to sunlight. But as with everything, it's up to each person to decide. If it suits you, then everything is fine.
