Let’s look at other barriers to imports from the poor old USA
- our exchange rate makes US (and other) imports costly
- transport costs over 15,000km costs a lot
- the quality of many goods (cars in particular) isn’t very good so we’d often prefer something else
- we charge a LCT and a GST - shame on us
- our produce is a superior quality so we’d prefer to buy our own if it hasn’t been exported somewhere else
- there is a strong preference to buy Australian Made. How dare we. That said, we don’t manufacture much anymore so buying local has diminished
- I’m sure there are a thousand more.
No wonder Trump is pissed off with us Aussies, we’re just ungrateful bastards really.
