I am glad Trump and Musk are doing what they are doing. There is nothing they can do that could possibly be any worse than the last administration. Our government is pathetic and just handed down 10 years of deficits... the lucky country hey. Handing our money to every kid on the block who does not have a job, and if they do, does not tax properly! 33% of all workers are paid by Fed/State government - good luck to us all.
I was responding to a post. Was I not allowed to do that since it contradicted your views? You’re allowed to throw up a meme with Musk, call me transphobic, unhinge rant, fake, etc… because why? I disagreed with what was being said? It’s unfortunate some folks get their panties in such a bunch when someone doesn’t agree. It’s also very interesting to see how easily you can twist the narrative to suit your views. The fact that you’re so biased that you actually think I was referencing ‘the left’ rioting at the Capitol. You literally just spewed rhetoric from breitbart onto a car forum. Pure dataless rhetoric in a unhinged rant. You literally chain transphobic talking points with explicitly saying that some citizens votes should be weighted heavier than others (in your favor what a shock!) with a heavy implication that ‘the left’ stormed the Capitol on jan 6th.
I didnt call you names and your fake performative outrage is on brand. Your post had no novel personal perspective and certainly contained no nuance. Just copy/pasted opinions and disinformation that didnt need to be shared here. So stow the pearl clutching.
I don’t get that vibe at all. Some people hate him, sure - but even for the Europeans, the fact they bought such a tough truck with such crappy fuel economy right before EV mandates go into effect, that’s a pretty gutsy crowd if you ask me. This group probably leans towards nostalgia for the past, if anything. But on this particular issue related to tariffs - it’s not TDS to be spooked at the prospect of something as vulnerable as Ineos automotive potentially facing a significant drop in US demand. That’s a real possibility, and it’s not unreasonable to think this could have serious consequences- for the future of the Grenadier and for all of us, who are left holding the bag. That’s a totally fair discussion, and I don’t think irrelevant to this community. Not that discussing it changes anything. Good luck to all of us - hoping for a good and swift resolution.Sheesh the TDS is strong around here.

Agreed. I think its a way to get businesses to invest in the US. Knowing that moving production is going to take time, a commitment of some tangible amount would probably suffice to reduce or eliminate the Trump tariffs.I don’t get that vibe at all. Right is right and wrong is still wrong for most sane people. Clearly what happened on J6 was wrong, no matter who did it or what party they belonged to…just like it was wrong to burn down police stations during the “mostly peaceful protests” in Portland. Is that nuanced enough for you? Or maybe in your eyes the Portland rioters get a pass cause they’re on your side. It was an example of how both sides have lost their way. “Half” doesn’t mean the Right half is right and the Left is wrong. It’s the half that compose both far left and far right. They are both out of their minds. It’s these people that are pushing these crazy agendas.
I still believe most people are left/right of center and even though there are some things we don’t agree on, we agree on many issues. Now if I happen to be right of center, I risk automatically being labeled as a racist, nazi, transphobic, misogynistic, privileged white male POS.
And what “disinformation” am I spreading? Do tell. Because you love to use that word for anything that doesn’t jive with your views. You’re projecting and you don’t even realize it.
I’m done. You get the last word. Have at it. Make it goodBless your heart
That's a transphobic thing to say. That doesnt make you transphobic, but at least own that you said something transphobic. Didn't ya'll claim to be the party of personal responsibility? Bringing up trans people at all, in this context, unprovoked says a lot and none of it is pretty. And using your logic regarding the Electoral College, it’s seems now more than ever it’s needed because about half the country has lost its mind when they think men can be women, require he/him, she/her, they/them pronoun
If you truly in good faith were not lumping those together then I apologize, but surely in context you must see why someone would think you were implying J6 was a false flag activity (which has always been a widely spread conspiracy theory)half the country has lost its mind when they think men can be women, require he/him, she/her, they/them pronouns, it’s OK to storm the Capitol or burn down police stations during the “Summer of Love”
I mean, come on. This is very reductive. What actually happened is the US had a strong isolationist stance and sat on it's hands for years while the UK fought the Axis virtually alone. We eventually entered the war, sure and that's to be celebrated, but the isolationist stance the US held (which we are now mirroring today) heavily contributed to the scale of Europe's devastation. We should celebrate the win but also acknoweldge the responsibility. The US became the power that it is because we basically saved the UK and eventually Europe from Hitler.
This is just not true. EU countries don't levy 'heavy tariffs' against US products. Well, not yet as the trade wars have barely started. Unnecessary trade wars that Trump is instagating even though by every measure the US benefits from it's position at the top of the global trade pyramid.NATO and continues to have heavy tariffs levied against US products
Again not true.I have an idea to heads of the affected countries…drop your tariffs and I bet POTUS will drop ours. Remember these are primarily reciprocal tariffs.
Trickle down doesnt work. US corporate taxes are already around the lowest in the western world and yet corporations still offshore jobs, manufacturing, etc.Taxes…businesses set up where it’s most profitable for them. Make them pay too much and they find a different home. Fact is these companies also create jobs and that money gets put back into our economy.
This demonstrates a lack of understanding of how much the US benefits from the stability it's (small from a budgetary standpoint) foreign aid provides. And that spending pales in comparison with defense spending. Hell USAID's budget was only .3% of the federal budget. Musk's companies alone have gotten more government funding ($38B) than USAIDs annual budget ($21B).How about we stop giving billions of it away to other countries and than get crucified for asking compensation in return when EU countries do the same to countries they give money to.
Oh god, here we go with the victim complex lolI still believe most people are left/right of center and even though there are some things we don’t agree on, we agree on many issues. Electoral College votes aren’t 1:1 because as you’ve pointed out, it would essentially mean that a few states would dictate the election for the entire country…similar to how @2/3 of Kalifornia is red but the few densely populated areas make it a democratic super majority for years. How’s that state been going lately? Talk about “f’up”.
will
Archaic, like the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.

Ironic that in this day and age when everyone has a super computer in their back pocket, people appear more stupid than ever (not talking about anyone here, just a general observation)
The US became the power that it is because we basically saved the UK and eventually Europe from Hitler. Once the war was over the US had the infrastructure and resources intact to help our allies. Problem is now 80yrs after the war, the US continues to have pay the most into NATO and continues to have heavy tariffs levied against US products but has not placed similar tariffs from foreign imports. That’s changing and now the world is mad.
I have an idea to heads of the affected countries…drop your tariffs and I bet POTUS will drop ours. Remember these are primarily reciprocal tariffs.
Thinking it’s not OK for the US to do what’s been done to us for decades shows your bias. And that’s fine because you should be thinking about your own country first, but it’s also not wrong for the US to put our needs first as well.
Taxes…businesses set up where it’s most profitable for them. Make them pay too much and they find a different home. Fact is these companies also create jobs and that money gets put back into our economy. Rather than worry about who should pay what, how about if the GOV does a better job as the stewards of our money by reducing wasteful spending, fraud and abuse.
How about we stop giving billions of it away to other countries and than get crucified for asking compensation in return when EU countries do the same to countries they give money to.
@mcdoogs last post brought out some strong points. All I will add is yes the constitution and the bill rights are archaic. They were written 300 plus years ago. World has changed and people now use the Constitution as to justify their argument like the forefathers would agree with them. How often do we make amendments to constitution despite everyone saying it's a living breathing document.Archaic, like the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.

I dunn'know. are you saying this should have been a 60g truck all along???Lynn Calder had already anticipated this in the existing pricing - see previous media releases. Plus commercial trucks already have the chicken tax which was accounted for prior to US pricing decisions so it’s no different. IMO this is a non event for Ineos sales in the USA.
HAHAHAHA. Yea... thats how businesses plan for consumer pricing, by "factoring" in an extra 25%. You must have spent your life in military procurement or something, with unlimited tax dollars to spend and a captive audience as a customer base using negotiated pricing.Exactly this. No need for knee-jerk reactions. Any entity running a large company that has a large portion of their business with the USA has likely been making a plan for the change in administrations.
You are assuming the economy and society survive the early phases to make it to the later phases. Even if they do, there is no way to tell if that would be better than if we had stayed on our earlier trajectory.Anyone else tracking the phases of Tuckman’s Stages of Group Development? I.e. Military leadership 101…
Storming, Norming, then Performing.
Storming characteristics:
High conflict, division, polarization.
Constant debates about leadership, values, and power.
Mistrust between groups (political parties, cultural movements, generations).
Disagreements about what the society should be.
Institutional strain (economy, government, social contracts).
Seem familiar?
Norming will happen when the economic policies find balance and large changes happen here in the US like a reduction of taxes, trade deficits wiped out, interest rates reduced, etc. We will find agreement with each other again. Can’t wait!
Performing will be a period of renewed economic growth, societal cohesion, and focused innovation (think post-WWII boom or post-90s tech boom).
Welcome to the STORM!
He also does not give a shit about Australia or your opinion.
None of what you said is true, as usual. If we cant offload f-35's to other air forces the per unit negotiated cost will sky rocket, along with the replacement parts needed to keep jets in the air. We can develop bad ass machines for ourselves, BECAUSE the allies will buy enough to get the airframe cost down.Actually the USA is subsidizing the world in weapons, defense, research, and education amongst others. If everbody would pay their fair share maybe tarriffs would not be needed.
His comment was just plain stupid. Stability ='s growth, and certainty ='s investment. The only military trope you need to know is from Helmoth von Moltke. (the sound of googling, here) In other words, in a universe of infinite possibilities, the only outcome I can guarantee you will not happen, is the one MAGA is planning on.You are assuming the economy and society survive the early phases to make it to the later phases. Even if they do, there is no way to tell if that would be better than if we had stayed on our earlier trajectory.

i.e. you can be competitive in today's market and stay in business, or you can plan for worst case scenarios and not have a profit, but you cannot do both.
And ... yes that is right... Forums. This one might shut it down because they had requested no political bullshit and yet DaveB starts speaking out his arse on such politcal matters no one on this car forum cares about. Tarrifs, yes appropriate content as it might effect prices of Ineos products. Other such matters did not need to be brought up. I can only suppose it is because the USA is top dog and the top dog is always attacked for good and bad reasons or, probably more appropriately, DaveB has TDS and is in dire means of serious mental health services. Truth be told, not sure his elevator goes all the way to the top.Shut down free speech!
Who does that???
China, Russia, NK...
Archaic! Having a King is Archaic (as well as pretty damned stupid).Point A: our electoral college is archaic.
