Americas Tow Package install - Software Update

The CarPlay update should have been addressed a long time ago, only the very early production vehicles needed that update
I know they definitely fixed the test vehicles, that was a mess haha. I honestly have only had a glitch or too with my CarPlay, but 99% of the time it works great.

That's weird b/c they called me yesterday saying I am good to go on Wednesday for install 3-13-24
So weird! Maybe a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing? Did the service department call you or was it a sales rep?

Is there some sort of gov’t regulation that would allow Ineos to update the tow software at port but not allow a dealer to complete the update?

Based on what I have been directly told, and the evidence at hand from the vast majority of dealers, no.

I don’t think this is a govt/Ineos issue, rather probably a local dealer issue.

My service folks (Colorado) told me they got the green light Friday, and already did 1-3 that day. They fixed mine monday.
Whole thing does not take very long.

Not having this coordinatined with the dealers (and the resultant inconsistency in answers) is unfortunately on Ineos.

Okay then my guess would be that the issue could be a lack of resources to train the dealers on installing the update. Otherwise I can’t see any reason why the update isn’t rolled out to all dealers at this point.

From my source, all dealers have been trained and have access to the update as of Monday...

From me, any issues with communication or clarity of information from that point forward is on the dealer.

I'm not trying to call out any dealer(s) with my next comment, but having dealt with dealer sales/service/parts departments in a business-to-business setting for nearly 20 years, it doesn't matter what brand the vehicle is, most interactions lack a proper understanding of any vehicle-centric topic. Due in part to high turnover rates and a generalized lack of care/interest on the dealer employee's behalf.

Went to pickup my Gren a few days ago from Sewell in North Texas, a little surprised to find the tow hitch and fender plates installed. Hope that means the rest of you guys will get some relief soon.

I called to ask on Saturday and was told they just got the software released, and they asked if I would like to schedule an appointment for Wednesday for tow package/checker plates install. I called again on Monday just to confirm that they are good to go for Wednesday, and was told that the service department would call me back to confirm; which he did later to tell me they have already done a few (tow packages) and that I am good to drop off at my scheduled time on Wednesday. I will be heading over there shortly and can update the forum if this is still the case. 🤞

Yes. The tow hitch vehicles that were modified in port before delivery are now being re-fitted with their hitches and having the appropriate software re-flash.

Your dealer should be reaching out to you to schedule the work.

Can confirm, I called about the AC and was told they'll be flashing the new software as well. Also some fix in there for CarPlay apparently? Any details/confirmation?

Very early delivery vehicles had an older version of software flashed for the Infotainment, but most (if not all) were updated prior to delivery

Stu_Barnes Can you provide anything directly from Inoes that I can give to my dealer so they will install the hitch?

Crown Ineos in St. Pete Florida says they are still waiting on the tow hitch update.

Okay everyone, I just confirmed via call that the tow package is currently being installed with software updates, 1st Oil change is now complete to remove break in oil, and they are now working on installing the checker plates. So thumbs-up on the tow package install at least in north TX Sewell Ineos.

For the checker plates, was that added after the fact or with your build? Mind sharing the cost? I'm worried the labor is going to be wild if I want to add them.

Whether you order them with the original build or add them after the fact, a dealer still has the ability to charge for the installation, and each dealer's labor rate will differ (sometimes wildy)

I ordered with my build long ago, but they (dealer) didn't have them when I took delivery back mid-December. I have just been putting it off until the tow thing was worked out. Far as I know cost was already included when I paid at pick-up.

Yeah, that's my fear. Won't hurt to ask next week I guess.

Gotcha, good luck!
