Even more confusingly, Witter sell a limited range of 2" receiver towbars, mostly for vans. They quote an EC type approval on their website.

So it must be that they are legal in the UK after all.
I purchased my 2” receiver towbar direct from Ineos.

The M10 titanium bolt I got was a bust. I forgot to account for thread pitch. Any idea what the thread pitch is? Cheers!

It is just the standard m10x1.5 if you buy an m10 bolt at the hardware store that will be it.

To be clear: that welded nut is provided so you can install a bolt to stop the hitch from rattling when there is nothing connected to it. It should not be left tight when there is a towing load on the hitch. If you leave it tight the focused point load on the end of the bolt will at best damage the bolt or break the nut off, or at worst damage the lower face of the hitch (and especially if the bolt is harder than the hitch shank).
A loaded hitch won't rattle during towing due to down load but may clunk a bit when the hitch shifts minimally in the receiver due to pitching movements. That's normal.

Google 'towbar anti-rattle bolt'.

Hello HDR,

I am not sure why, but I attempted both (M10 x 1.25 and M10 x 1.50) metric hex flange bolts and neither worked with my Ineos tow hardware. I ended up trying an SAE 3/8"-16 bolt and it fit perfectly into the nut welded to the bottom of the receiver hitch.
