It's great seeing a dealer partner as excited as the rest of us about this launch. Cheers to you folks!I know you're all waiting patiently and so am I............. actually I'm not, I've refreshed my Portal about 100 times today
Little shot of what the top of your contract will look like, not that this will help you in anyway but it's something.......

I can honestly say I haven't been as excited about a project before in my life! Having traveled up and down the country as many of you will know, trying to get as much information as possible. I am as eager as all of you to see these cars out on the road and after seeing a PTO-3 the other day in flesh, it gets you going even more just seeing this car progress each time you see it.It's great seeing a dealer partner as excited as the rest of us about this launch. Cheers to you folks!
I was lucky enough to sit down with Mark Tennant the other day
I know most of you check your portal and emails on a daily basis, if you don't, then tomorrow will be a good day to start.
You should have said if he was your source for:
And our expectations might have been set more appropriately...
Spoiler alert:

He's got a different coloured polo shirt.
Not familiar with (2), but the prototype one currently in Perth is fitted with redarcAnyone know if the production vehicle is prewired for (1) fitting a HF radio, and (2) coupling up at the towing point for an electric control breaking system, which most of our more larger trailers and caravans etc here in Australia have fitted.?
also, was told that although you can change the spec, colour etc prior to signing, changing the model was a “no no”..! I’d planned to swap up to the Fieldmaster from a pimped up base.. I’m hearing back today from Ineos is this is possible or not.
I’m hoping to see my inbox “ping” at any moment…..
What sort of prewiring would one expect for the radio, Les? I was thinking to just jump it off an unused fuse…Anyone know if the production vehicle is prewired for (1) fitting a HF radio, and (2) coupling up at the towing point for an electric control breaking system, which most of our more larger trailers and caravans etc here in Australia have fitted.?

Hi I was informed when I want to change from a SW to a Belfast that I would need to cancel my original order and create a new one hence would then be at the back of the queue! It will be interesting what they say to youHave just been told that contracts for jan and February delivery will be out today. These vehicles will be built in December.

Well I guess access to 12v and what you suggest would be one way to do that I guess. Dont know much about installing HF as I always had the local people do that here in Townsville, sometimes RAEME blokes at Lavarack Barracks also did it on the LR 110 for me. But would also need a fairly thick wire entry for the Auto Tune HF antenna from the front Bull Bar area into the HF black box location, probably under the rear seat next to the battery's but leading from that location to the internal dashboard area would be some wiring to the Remote Head of the HF set. What sort of prewiring would one expect for the radio, Les? Yes, understood. On that basis I doubt they will, as I note the roo bar appears to lack antenna tabs which makes one presume that they're expecting owners may mount their antenna(s) at the bar, front wing or roof. Options galore with a ground independent setup.Well I guess access to 12v and what you suggest would be one way to do that I guess. Yes the HF will probably be the Barrett 4050se SDR HF outback Travellers Pack. Been using Barrett since day1 and they shape up very well where I go. The Auto Tune Antenna has been greatly reduced as has the Black Box itself these days. HF will always work when Satellites go off line and who knows whats coming down the track?Yes, understood. Consolation is that it's an easy install - there is typically a diaphragm/pass-through for such purposes on the firewall and depending on how you've spec'd your vehicle there should be either a vacant fuse and/or a hot wire in the dash, below the rear seat, and in the overhead switch panel.
Any plans on a particular unit? I'm going to pop a GME XRS UHF in there, which is a tiny little box that you can attach on double-sided tape or a velcro patch behind the dash/glove box with control/speaker from the handset.
Backup/Short range for me is a 5W handheld, although also flirting with a Starlink once I understand how coverage looks in Sth America. Latter will require an inverter...

Well I have always used HF to pick up a lot of useful information concerning local situations etc just by listening to the local chatter on the radio. Cant do that with a telephone and for an emergency I simply carry an EPIRB which I have registered in my name and to transmit from an inland location IE not out to sea.Hi Les,
A serious question, is HF still a relevnt technology? I looked into HF a while back and ended up getting an Iridium sat phone. As I use Telstra, Telstra SIM have global roaming with Iridium and one can put a Telstra SIM into the iridium Sat phone and use it for emergency purposes on a as needs basis. For longer trips an Australian iridium supplied SIM from the people at Pivotel in Qld is available and receive calls to a local number with no extra $ to either the calling party or me. External calls are a tad higher than mobile. Pivotel are a good company to talk with and quite flexible (I initially engaged with Pivotel personally, and was impressed enough to engage with them years later to setup a multi-sat phone engagement for work requirements).
The Iridium 9555 handset I got years ago is still current tech which is a worry, showing that iridium and the old school sat tech has not progressed for personal use.
I ordered Starlink rv service last week for internet access when remote. The package was posted the next day and I received the unit the following day (Sydney). Amazing. As of a few days ago Starlink upfront hardware costs for Australian is %50 off for Nov and Dec…I jumped. Most Australian mobile carriers provide seamless wifi calling over an internet wifi hotspot, which the starlink unit provides.
While this helps for camping and roadside stops when required, it doesn’t help vehicle in motion comms. Starlink this week announced a dedicated roof top receiver for vehicles in motion (twice the size of the standard Starlink ground receiver). It is flat though, though a bit on the sizeable side. Certainly not as nice as a HF whip. This vehicle in motion receiver is not available for a few more weeks, and costs much more.
Thought I would post this info here for yourself Les and others to consider. This area has spent 20+ in the dark ages in Australia, but in the last 6 months the game has now changed dramatically.
On a side note, much of Australia below Townsville has coverage as of today, with extended coverage rolling out at the moment that ‘should‘ cover complete Aust in the next 6-8 months.
