Steering Noises

We ordered our Grenadier some months ago and went to check it our yesterday with a plan to pick up tomorrow. There was a high pitched whine every time one of us even touched the steering wheel. Our salesperson got an audio of it to share with the service department. We haven't heard back yet but I thought I'd tap into the collective wisdom here. Has anyone had this issue? Is it an issue? And, most importantly, is this a deal breaker for us???
Thanks for any info!

Mine still whines after 12k miles, but the sound seems to have settled down over time - either not as loud as brand new, or I've become less aware of it. No issues to my knowledge - as I understand it's a different set-up than most vehicles with the grenadier having a remote electric motor to run the power steering pump (vs. belt driven off of the engine). Although, I know next to nothing about these things. Lots of discussions around this topic on this forum if you search.

I don't have a whine. From previous threads, some have complained of a serious noise but without resolution.

I just read that you haven't taken delivery.

My opinion, but DO NOT do so without it being quiet and at least having proof the assembly has been completely changed. I do recall reading one person complaining to the dealer about a hideous noise, and Ineos came back denying an actual issue. Up to you, but I wouldn't take it. I'd pick another on the lot, order another, or just walk.

If it is louder than all the rest on the lot, then there is a problem... but if you just hear a whine, that's fairly standard

Hello everyone, without having heard the noise that bothers you, you can't actually comment on it... a quiet, high-frequency noise when steering and then a little louder when you stop the steering is normal!

I understand you to be saying it’s
only ‘normal’ if it’s quiet. What defines ‘quiet’ from the service advisor perspective?
I ask as I’ve had two power steering pumps.
I’m very happy with the second pump - made a big difference!

What did you say to get the dealer to change the pump? Mine has a terrible whine. Went back to the dealer to compare with others on the lot. Mine is considerably louder. It's not "normal."

I posted this in the main steering noise thread. You can't hear it when driving with the windows up, but the minute the windows are down, the sound is noticeable.

At the risk of people bashing me yet again, I’ll respond. My Personal Gren has a very high pitched Power Steering noise and it stays on for about +/- 30 seconds after you stop whatever steering input. I’ve had a few Power Steering warnings come on. Tank is full. It’s very noticeable. The loaner I have now is almost silent, you can hear it but it’s about the same sound as my 2 BMW’s so substantially quieter. My dealership says it like a 50/50 some are very loud, some much less. So if the 3 I’ve driven 2 have been fairly reasonable and one I would say is far more pronounced.

Does the dealership say it’s a problem as such, or just noisy?
