In an interview in November the CEO of Ineos Automotive Lynn Calder confirmed that an update to the ADAS system is in the works for the US market. So the question is not if the update is happening but when it will be released.

Not to try and pass the buck but I think it is all a matter of perspective. We all walk around with iPhones in our pockets and so we expect that. That has become the bar and no one appreciates actually how hard the bar is to clear, we just assume because it is 2024 every UI will be iPhone like. The point of the vehicle in my opinon was to have a bullet proof drive train, no one is on here talking about engines blowing up (Toyota tundra), axles to weak for large tires and lockers (every ifs Toyota), or steer linkages that are failing (bronco). Even though the UI is the part of the vehicle I interact with every day I can honestly say I would rather have a slow terrible UI then U joints blowing up on the trail. That is why I bought the vehicle and I guarantee if you were having to carry spare axle shafts and switch them after every obstacle you would trade a laggy UI all day every day for breakage. By the way the above is not me seeing people have not had mechanical issues but it is recognizing the majority of the vehicles do not have what I consider Must Upgrade Components because of breakage on the model, that is a big difference.

I spoke to the service manager in Houston this week. They were expecting the ADAS update by the end of the year but said it will likely come in early 2025.

My take on perspective? Every shitbox at 1/3 the cost gets this right. Ineos didn’t advertise this as an either/or proposition and I bet the new CEO would agree such an implication isn’t flattering to her brand.

It's probably been said here before. I wonder how many Grenadiers are sitting in dealerships because many backed out upon learning that ADAS couldn't be permanently disabled.

Once it ships in a bit more volume then yes but right now we are getting the hardcore enthusiastic buyer and a few from the monies up class. I think price is a bigger deal breaker than warnings. At $55k for the entry model this truck would destroy the wrangler market. At $80k its a touch too far out of reach for that buyer.

Sewell up here in Plano,Tx claims to have ordered over 800 trucks as of the end of 2023. They have a crap load of trucks on the lot now, at least in relative terms. As well I already see a handful driving around DFW regularly. Of those; most if not all are soccer moms or guys in office wear. I can say with certainty they won't ever go off road in a meaningful way. This is actually the same scenario back in 1993 with the NAS 110's in DFW. There used to be a tone of pristine 110's floating around here.

Point is, I think the majority of USA purchases are from the "monies up class" as you put it. But, $80k is pretty normal nowadays for a truck of any sort.

It's a funky mixed up world these days so who really knows.

So when we took our Test Drive right before 4th of July, the Salesman told us "We're expecting a Software Update to fix/update/cover a few areas, including the Speed Warning etc. - any day now. We were actually expecting it tomorrow (4th of July) but they told us it would be a few more days ..." Obviously , has not happened. Everyone seems to have stories of their salespeople / Dealership saying "An Update Is Coming..."

Having said that- I can't remember if I posted this or not on here- and look, I am not saying I am RIGHT , simply passing on what my Dad read (on what I believe to be a Grenadier FB group but he's up on all that stuff, so it could have been elsewhere...) - but someone posted something along the lines of, "I just got off the phone with an actual Ineos 'Tech Support' Engineer , I had to research and talk to a ton of people before I got the Phone # - and he was very nice but very firm - There ain't no "Update" coming - everything was done for very specific reasons, both for operating information & to confirm to laws/rules/regulations/etc. - The Speed Warning thing is not getting Permanently Disabled, and the Dealers know it. We {Ineos} suspect that everyone is just being Car Salespeople - say what you need to say, sell the car, and deal with it later... " - Now does that mean there could not be Updates for technical or support purposes? Of course not. Nor does it mean it's the truth ... I've had people tell me completely contradictory or false info about all sorts of stuff before , so there is no reason to think this couldn't be the same. But the gist was, at least that, it ain't getting "Updated" ... you want it off, you gotta turn it off each time. Same with Auto-Start-Stop. Thankfully that's a pretty easy button to tap. But at this point, none of us are certain that they'll even keep producing vehicles, so maybe they simply don't care. Or bigger fish to fry.

There is some evidence that the update already exists, but from what I understand it bricked several of the demo trucks. So the delay is in resolving that issue. Regardless, it's apparent that Ineos is not good at software period.

Who knows if they will figure it out.

Testing concluded that the sounds emanate from the speakers. Wouldn't it be as simple as providing a volume control for the alert sounds so we can permanently change them to zero?

Could I drive another car as a daily? Sure, but I enjoy the Grenadier as a daily driver.
