Incidentally the environmental malus tax in France referred to in the opening post does not apply to the 2 and 5 door utility versions where the tax is far cheaper than the road tax applied in the uk

I know what you mean.
When I was young we were so poor we couldn't afford tyres for my bike.
So I had to carry the bike to school.
