I don't understand Ineos Automotive, no communication or vague communication or crap communication with no information (like I had with the guy from customer support some two weeks ago - not his fault by the way) is soooooo bad for their reputation!

The website and our account on it is for many of us also a disaster: the last time I had some decent information about my order was about half December, and since then I don't see my order anymore! Each time I talk about the website with my dealer Hedin in Belgium he tells me the same: "new version under construction". But he tells me that since September!

  • Is it so difficult for them (Ineos customer support or anybody) to look up an order number and tell us the status of our order and the configuration linked to it? Shouldn't be!
  • Is it so difficult to admit clearly which outsourced components or parts have delivery delays? We all know there are some problems in the world, therefore tell us! Difficult? I don't think so!
  • Is it so difficult to tell us that the software has still some serious bugs? If it is the case, tell us? Difficult? No!
  • Is it a shame to have problems? No! Is it normal? Perhaps! Should they talk about it! Yes! Not difficult!
I am pissed off! Ineos Customer support and communication is soooooo important.

And "perhaps" I am among the lucky ones, perhaps, see what I announced concerning my order about one week ago in this thread.
Nope spot on, so far
Ineos cant deliver a Grenadier
Ineos Can't deliver a contract and
Ineos can't deliver the communications regarding the above

WTF can they do, other than sit on £2500 of my cash, interest free for nearly a year !!!!

100% agree, even that I was until now really a fanboy, the non communication drives me crazy. If I do with my customer in this way, I will not earn the money to buy a Grenadier.
Ineos should be happy that their customer follow another culture.

What do you want Ineos to tell us? There are problems. Which ones I don't care about. They may also not yet know when they can be solved. So, what should Ineos tell us? So they keep quiet. I have been waiting for 5 years now. It always went on in small and big steps. Now there is only one very small step to take. Then my Grenadier will be there. And I want to have it flawless. So I can wait a little longer. Your contracts will also come. But it just doesn't happen that fast. Everything is terribly complicated. But we've been through all that in this forum. Keep your nerves. Everything will be fine.

Nothing but the truth, which has alas been sadly lacking so far, August30th 2022, Quote" I can confirm your contract is coming this Friday" did it ? No, same in October14th, Your contract will defiantly be with you next week, I can guarantee" did it, No ! Same in December, and January 2023. I don't mind the wait, anyone can manage that it is the dishonesty and lies that really pisses me off....

I am not sure that it‘s a small step… first day reservation, first day order, no contract and if I can trust the dealer min. 60 days to wait until contract signed. Production should be Feb 23.
After not receiving an confirmation about the early order, it takes several long calls at Ineos to have the order in July in the system. They never called me, I have to follow up.
So I am afraid:We hear nothing, is the order lost again? everything running well. If someone communicate with you it is different.
Sure other car company have same problems, for example Audi is still on delay with the in 12/21 ordered RS3 of my son, but the dealer update him every month. Don‘t care about good or bad news. He speak to him.

if you want to rant, direct it to their managers . They are all on Linkedin. Just type Ineos Automotive in the search function and they’re all there from Lyn Calder down. IA are particularly active on LinkedIn at the moment and I make a point of commenting on their posts about poor communication and failing to surf the wave of good will that exists amongst order holders..

My hunch is that Ratcliffe has seen the niggles and negative stuff in the press reports - mostly relatively easy fixes according to Forbes review - and asked for fixes before the cars are released, hence the so-called "checks". The man likes stuff to be perfect so any flaws will piss him off big time. I had hoped, however, that demo cars would have been available this week for on-road test drives. Maybe they will be. 🤞

From me at least, the pressure is off. I think following the slightly lukewarm reviews I would actually like to drive a Grenadier on the road before I'm sat with my left knee under my chin and my right foot accidentally pressing the brake rather than the accelerator as I frantically wrestle the wheel in order not to veer off course. I would also be happy if my car lands with the dealer before my contract arrives, especially in light of the ongoing saga in terms of business accounting the purchase, VAT and so on. I would rather news from Ineos saying they had made an arrangement with HMRC than news saying they had made my car!

Frustrating certainly but VAT, tax and accounting treatment are for the buyer to sort out. I‘d be surprised if any OEM made a representation or warranted tax/VAT treatment for any vehicle.
I knew the risks I was taking when I paid the £450 and then the further £2,050 in May, they are a new manufacturer trying to update an old 4x4 format with a different approach to other OEM’s.
Credit to them and their investor(s) who’ve put up the cash to carry out the project. I’ll wait impatiently as I want to get my hands on the vehicle and use it.
Their comms have been poor but they’re inexperienced at dealing with the public, their worst failure IMO being the Thatcham Cat 1 debacle. That matters for me, they really should have been better there as it’s pretty basic in their description, one doesn’t use Thatchams’ good name unless one is 100% sure of product status with Thatcham.

Yep good point and I've e mailed them and talked to a couple too. Their e mails used to be available when we had access to the press site ;) 😁

The email format for Ineos is: firstname.surname@ineos.com

I have used this on occasions and it has been successful.
Curious, did you achieve anything? If we are all in the same boat, I think I will try to relax and await for delivery to happen. But keep moaning in the meantime. :) :) :)

IA is light years away from being perfect. The whole entity and its processes appear to be in chaos and nothing seems to be done to correct it. There are only warm words spoken from always new people. I think that Sir Ratcliffe should take immediate action and address the public about his remedies.

I have added a statement to the United Kingdom forum - I had a response from Gary Pearson about the DVLA and HMRC treatment.

HI Nomad,

of the three people I contacted two responded; which I appreciated. Yes we are all in the same boat. I have seen the backlog and ‘communications’ from other vehicle manufactures over the last 15 months, not flash there either. Happy to wait, we’ve all been waiting years for this vehicle, and if you include the years many of us waited for the ‘New Defender’ it’s approaching a decade….yikes.

One month today since my Grenadier was supposed to be built. We've had Lynn Calder's communication and the press embargo lifted but I'm still none the wiser on when I'll get my contract or delivery date. Weren't those with January builds supposed to get a revised delivery date?? Has anyone with an original January build date heard anything from INEOS?
Same here

Morning Nomad,

  • I established that my Grenadier didn't go into production on the 13th January 2023 as previously advised by Ineos,
  • I asked to be provided with the VIN number as it was, at that time 3 weeks since it was due to go into production so should have been complete, and of course available, it wasn't because it actually hadn't gone into production.
  • that the new contracts will have a delivery date on them, [ I dont know if the old ones did as I never got one]
  • that my grenadier may be going into production in February - note to self - we are now 1/2 way through February,
  • and the end of March / begining of April would be a realistic delivery date,
  • and that a contract should be coming to me shortly [ they didn't say "The contracts are released in batches so you have to wait"]

The other throwaway comment was that a few have been completed and are destine for VIP's [ hopefully there are many of those on the forum so we can get the feedback (y)

So we will see if the contract turns up soon, and if the Grenadier arrives end March begining April. Hopefully so.

Fingers etc crossed as looking forward to getting behind the wheel

I had a chat with Ineos yesterday and asked them to update me on the likely hood of my predicted Feb build month going ahead.
Long story short, I am neither better informed or any the wiser.
They mentioned delays both in production, parts and the sending of contracts. I tried to draw them on how many months they were behind schedule for my Feb build but they wouldn't be specific. I am certain from the tone of the conversation the car has not had the keel laid or perhaps even the steel cut!
I was told that I am lucky being based in the UK as we are supposed to be one of the countries getting the first deliveries. Not sure what that really meant.
The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing - slightly miffed - yes, surprised - not in the slightest.
Trying to buy a house at the moment so I'll put the Grenny cash towards that if our offer is accepted and worry about monies for the Grenny later in the year as I will be staggered if it happens before summer.

Fingers crossed.

On a positive note the only thing that is slowing the passing of time for me is waiting for the car, for that I am grateful. (trying to polish a turd here)

The VIP program is running behind schedule and it looks like vanguard customers will be getting their keys the same time as everyone else in March. I understood that vip cars were being lined up for handover this week but as yet, they’ve not shown up in the network. I’m also pretty sure that no demonstrators have been delivered for prospective customers to drive. IA are very busy on social media promoting the Gren and in the meantime we’ll have to maintain our collective yearning and enthusiasm..

Hate to see what the response would be if they delivered a poor quality or defective product, or if someone died in an accident if an airbag did not deploy. Interest on your deposit? Are you serious? The price has gone up 10 to 14%, they are honouring the old price and you want 50 Euro compensation for the inconvenience??????

The reviews have given me confidence in the product and the project. Happy to wait for them to get it right.
