Sick of waiting

Because my dealer Hedin in Belgium couldn’t give me information about my production date or delivery anymore, I had a life chat last Friday with Ineos in French.

The woman was friendly, and told me (after some questions and vague answers) that they would reply by e-mail.

The e-mail (same day) didn’t answer my question, only told me how I could see my configuration on my account. Only problem is: I can’t see my configuration anymore on the website, it says: “no order”.

Quite disappointed … 😡

And then this morning I got a telephone call from Britain. Usually I don’t pick it up (quite some scammers use British numbers). But this time I did!

It was Ineos, Hallelujah! 🥳

The guy was a nice French speaking guy, weird accent, but nice chap.

In fact, no more precise information, vague information, and partly erroneous:
  • We have delays
  • Delivery probably April for you
  • Contact you dealer (I did)
  • You can see your configuration on the website (not true, see above).
  • You will get an e-mail for signing the contract (not true, I signed in September last year with my dealer Hedin Belgium).
  • Be patient, everything will be OK.
I know I will have to be patient, but I am not. 😱

Anyway, nice that they called me! (y)

Probably a scammer, trying to pinch your build slot

Hi Jean,
your last build date was Feb. too? Like me, but I still have no contract. Looks like that I have to try to be patient until may/june.🤪
Last contact to my dealer Wednesday last week: no new information

Well, perhaps I will make some jealous ...

I got a call from my Belgian dealer (Hedin), who new that I contacted Ineos directly.

And he told me that he was informed that he will soon get 7 cars: a demo car first, and 6 customer cars. My car is one of the 6 cars! He couldn't tell me when, but I suppose he will get them still this month. :)

I think you deserve it! You need a vehicle which is capable to bring you safe and warm to the visit of your grandchildren!

My dealer will probably get "my car" in February, but I still think the hand over will be in March. But that is OK for me. I hope (for you) that you will get yours first :)

Good for you.

Was there any news on first vehicles to be delivered here in Germany?
Feels like other countries get some traction...

I would guess that there are also cars on their way to Germany. But Hedin isn't a dealer or retailer in Germany as far as I know.

Dear Jean, I 'am sure everything is going to be top with the Grenadier. Rob from Hedin Lokeren is a great dedicated guy. Rome isn't buil on one day. Glad your are going to be one of the first. We ordered a few weeks ago.(y)
Hey Luc, my contact person at Hedin is Erik Vanslembrouck. I don't know Rob, probably the new guy that was hired by Hedin to help Erik.

Hey Jean, yes Erik is his boss I think. His first ever contract he signed with us. Had toi take a picture. The guy is top dedicated, young but going the way which you surely understand. :)

Has Anybody knowledge of a 3/4 rooftop rack. We bought the trial master with rooftop windows. The don't open with the Rhino roofrack.
We want to buy a James Baroud rooftop tent. We don't have any experience in this. Just going to skip the rat race here in Belgium.

I'm pleased for you @Jean Mercier (and very envious). Prepare to be bombarded with questions, we'll give you 1 week to get acclimatise then we'll start

Hannibal used to be first choice value for money in EU, Unfortunately, they no longer have a distributor on the continent. Thankfully (or not), the Dutch are copying the design with some improvements, minus the solid bottom rail that Hannibal had. Have a look at their website, am sure they can adapt the 90´s Defender rack. They'll do that for you, others will be in the same position soon and there is a market. It's probably not too far away from where you live, maybe pay them a visit ?

The Hannibal rack always looked the part on a Defender or G Wagen, that should be no different on the Grenadier. Super strong, too (with the continuous bottom rail). More expensive examples with en equal carrying capacity are plentiful, sort of custom made, often for military applications, starting in the region of €4000.
