I managed to get some sense out of someone at Ineos today. The mistake appears to be down to my stupidity (my sarcasm, not what they actually said!)
The refund clock didn't start from when I cancelled on their website; nor from when I sent the requested follow-up email. The clock started from when they finally decided to acknowledge my email. I was told the refund would be paid in "14 days". Now, when I'm told "14 days" I ignorantly hear "2 weeks". No, it actually means "14 working days excluding bank holidays with a sub-note that it may be longer".
How could I have been so stupid as to think they'd just process my payment quickly as a compensation for the 6 months of BS they've fed me. Ho hum!
I do feel I need to finish off this rant with.......I still love the idea of the car and wish one was in my garage. I just can't get my head around the admin issues.
If you paid on your credit card, the Cunsumer Credit Act should come into play. Raise it with your card issuers and put the transaction in to dispute.. paying by card gives you a number of valuable protections. Read section 75 of the CCA.I chased Ineos again last week. They claim the refund has now been made but they've transmitted it to my original credit card, even though that card was cancelled a year ago. I've spoken to the provider (HSBC) who said Ineos are required to validate active accounts before paying. Called Ineos back and apparently they hadn't done that. HSBC have evidenced the money has been returned but Ineos are denying receipt.
Looks like I'm off to court!
I tried that. HSBC have claimed they are not liable due to having returned funds to the merchant. The card wasn't cancelled per se, it was a John Lewis credit card that moved providers. The original card is closed and cannot accept any payments as they no longer support it.If you paid on your credit card, the Cunsumer Credit Act should come into play. What a mess, easily avoidable if they would've checked where to send the refund.
I have gone back a step or two. Spoke again to IA customer service to request a VIN and whether any update on when it might leave the factory. Was told no, the VIN is not avail but don't worry as has finished production and delivery should be 'soon'. I smelled a rat so asked for them to check again. Sorry, they said, mistake, it's awaiting production!!!
Time to move the cash into a better rate of interest and get the D4 fixed properly.
Sick of waiting, yeah but nothing a few wines won't solve.
Ineos are in trouble with this in my opinion. There are 6 cars at my dealer ready to go but can’t be invoiced. We finally paid for ours today, after almost 3 weeks of messing around but I’m not happy about the “compromise.” Ineos are in breach of FCA rules but certainly until we’ve got our vehicle, I can’t be arsed with a formal complaint.can't give me an invoice or new order number.
Was yours a cancelled order or your original order?Ineos are in trouble with this in my opinion. There are 6 cars at my dealer ready to go but can’t be invoiced. I think I’m more ticked off than you are. I actually got my payment request back in April, but only received an email two weeks ago saying it’s just gone into production. When I questioned the customer service, they said they sent the payment request by mistake …Had one of those 'nothing' emails in from Ineos today stating:
When should I pay for my Grenadier? And how?
Once your vehicle has left the factory and is on its way to your retail partner, you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to make payment. It’s important you do this before your Grenadier reaches your retail partner. So we can prepare your vehicle and organise registration ahead of collection. And so you can organise insurance.
end
P1sses me off a bit because little ol me gets a teeny bit excited thinking what news is this for my order, and then open it up and it's more filibusting!
Oh-well.
Original order. Right farce. Considering this is a commercial vehicle they do not make the buying process remotely like buying a commercial vehicle from any other manufacturer or dealer. Most notably, being unable to provide VAT invoices for weeks on end is absurd. We won’t even go on to flat refusal of invoicing third party finance companies and trying to railroad customers in to high rate Santander HP.Was yours a cancelled order or your original order?
I've had that issue too, but fortunately my finance company will allow me to pay up front and then reimburse me, it's just fortunate that right now I have the cashflow to do that. It would have been a pain if I didn't.Original order. Right farce. That's what I did. I know others have paid and had no problems, but they have had to wait weeks before the vehicle arrives at the agent. It took 4 weeks to be delivered and 10 days to be ready for the road after paying for it.Just received a payment request, also says;
"Not long now. Your Grenadier has left the factory and is on the way to your Retail Partner."
then goes on to say pay now "...so we can deliver your Grenadier on time....."
hahahahaha!!!
After yesterday's chat saying it was waiting production who knows whats the status.
Think I'll wait for Jardines to confirm arrival and in what form it is in before releasing the bread.
Tks Nomad that is just the info I sought. That's what I did. I know others have paid and had no problems, but they have had to wait weeks before the vehicle arrives at the agent. It took 4 weeks to be delivered and 10 days to be ready for the road after paying for it.
GETTING CLOSER - PLUS I WOULD HOPE THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UPDATED TOO!
NB: VIN was supplied separately. Registration after payment. PDI after payment. Payment receipt from INEOS took 5 working days.
