BMW and the bigger manufactures haven't the resources to get involved in every trivial warranty claim and delegate that to the manufactures
I don't think that's a reason for Ineos to handle it any differently. A 10 day delay for e.g. a rubber seal is unacceptable and apparently Ineos doesn't even have the resources to deal with the comparatively few requests they have to manage. Particularly when it is a defect that is typical for a series of cars and which obviously does not need to be decided in each individual case.

I suspect the authorisation delay will have been down to a "discussion" between Ineos, the transporter, and the dealer as to who is liable for the damage costs.

Stone cracks or not, they seem very small impacts and appear to be getting quite common now, this s is something INEOS should take up with Pilkington.
I did notice a very very small impact in the crack, so small that you would never think it would have done anything. Hope this is not what we are up against - a delicate screen.

Two cracked windscreens in the first 800 miles. No subsequent cracks in the next 3000 miles. First windscreen replaced by dealer as the crack was there on delvery. Second crack caused by stone chip and replaced by auto glass within 24 hours.

Has anyone PPFd there windshield?
The appointments guy was out of town on a family emergency at my chosen installer, but come Tuesday, I'll have an appointment for an 8mm optically correct clear WPF (Window Protection Film) to be installed. Also getting the orange nose wrap, A-pillars and rear door, with a PPF overlay on the nose, wings, A-pillars and above the windshield in front of the Safari Windows. Basically, stone protection on all leading edges.

@Stu_Barnes Had something done to his wind shield, but I’m not sure of the particulars. Hopefully he’ll chime in. I’ll be honest, if he seems to think it’s a good idea, I’ll probably follow suit. I had a random crack in a Disco II windshield and it was crazy expensive to replace so I’d like to avoid that as best I can.
@Krabby I saw it. He had a Gorilla Glass overlay, similar to the sacrificial screens for cell phones. It was pretty slick.

Tangent conversation ...
Had the windshield in my 96 Discovery replaced in 2013 (from original). Driving to KY from NC shortly after replacement, lovely (Not!) stone kicked up and put a noticeable chip in the glass just below eyesight line driver's side. No advance in 10 yrs. 4 yrs ago, truck kicked up a rock I could see coming. A chip and 2 inch crack just below and to right of original. No advancement since.
Sounds like there are 2 different issues occurring here. Both make me concerned as to the quality of PPG for the "G" windshields. overall.

When you look on FB and this Forum, IMHO there are too many cracks appearing in the same place of the windscreen to be down to stone cracks. Incidentally the new Defender apparently seems to having the same issues.
Just check all my windows and the windscreen and it is Pilkinson Glass.
I'm coming down on the stress cracks opinion.
I too have read some bad press on the New Defender front window getting chipped/cracked easily. I wondered if JLR moved to thinner glass?? It seems like an unexpected place to "cheap out," and I would expect that both Ineos and JLR would resist thinner glass and instead done something crazy strong. The "gorilla glass" on my Garmin watch was a selling point.

I went with the Clearplex option.

With the potential lead times on screens I thought it worth a shot for stone damage. If there are stress cracks though that’s another beast entirely and this won’t help.
May I ask how much that set you back?

Oof! Hopefully that is effective. Can you tell it’s there? Does it come with any type of extension to the warranty or is it just an a la crate item with no warranty type benefits?
I bought 8 mil applies like window film used it on my FJ 15 bucks per foot 60 in wide does work well
