Scratches on Plastic!

Hi All,

I've noticed some scratches on plastic pieces as the attached images show.
I have tried to wipe it out without any effect.
Does someone have the same issue?

Difficult to tell on the photos on my phone, are they "scratched" or is it polish/wax from the valeting. Although I wouldn't have expected polish/wax to be used internally. Neither should there be that much scratching on one vehicle. Was it there when collected, if so agent to sort

Yeah, mine has taken a beating. I think the plastics don’t like the combination of heat and grit.
My interior is gouged and scarred in several locations.

I’ll see how it comes back up when circumstances permit a clean.

Might be a pre-delivery polish? They do all look like the same contaminant, which could be an inappropriate cleaning attempt.

Agree - mine was delivered the same from Chandlers, I should have said don't polish it before delivery.

I think some of these marks are actually polish, I used WD-40 on them or a similar product to remove the polish.

From previous posts car wash chemicals can have the same effect.

I found that car detailing PROTECTORANT did a good job of restoring the external plastic on mine where there were similar looking marks

Definitely looks like polish or a cleaning product to me - the grain in the plastic catches it and it goes white when dry.

That looks like polish that has gone over the plastic

I’ve always thought the interior plastic in the Grenadier would take a hiding, scratch and scuff easily. Just one of those things really and seems to be more prevalent in recent models.
The 200 interior definitely scuffs much worse than the 100 Series used to.
I think interior plastic has gone backwards over time in my view.

It has Big - because they make it with more Eco-friendly 'additives' than yesteryear. It is the same as 'new paints'. Low VOC means low adhesion and strength and durability. The old acrylic and enamel paints required mechanical removal and lots of it, these days, a Chux wipe can damage internal house paints just as bad as your kids' fingerprints!!! Lead paints work well I hear...

Aside from the info screens, I treat the rest of the plastics as 'gonna get scratched sooner or later' for the most part.

As to the OP: that looks very similar to my Gren on pick up. The polish/wax whatever they used left a white residue which looks very similar to yours. I simply used 'very hot' water on a 'soft foam' scrubber, and it all come off (well 99% of it). Use the yellow side not the green!!! And only on PLASTIC!

Now that's a blast from the past.
Anyway I have used excellent polish on the body of mine from Sam's detailing , and I would guess products from his range would be great on the plastics. I'm a convert. Also will not let roadside car wash folks near mine.

Dilute it though! Pure alco can affect some particular paints and especially powder coat of various types. 20% alco max as a guide.
