Power steering noise

Hello everyone;) I was finally able to pick up my grenadier yesterday🥳 Unfortunately, I noticed at home that my power steering makes a strange noise. I think it's not a normal noise, or? The filling level in the container was at maximum with the engine warm but switched off. The German instructions do not say exactly in which condition the oil should be checked. Does anyone have an idea? I tried to post a video but I always see the file is too big (7mb)
Thank you;)

An update.

I put the truck on stands and removed the cap and tried to burp air out of the lines as some have suggested. After about 100 turns back and forth, absolutely no sign of bubbles in the reservoir and zero effect on the whine.

My dealer finally got back to me this morning with the strong stance of “They all do it and yours sounds like every single one we have on our lot.” Friendly enough to suggest I come by to verify that for myself, but with a definite commitment to not being able to help me with it. There’s simply no possible way they can all be as bad as mine and their refusal to even accept that it’s clear there’s some variance built into this obvious defect is beyond frustrating.

If you’re reading this before purchasing one of these, I would absolutely NOT buy one until it’s clear that this is sorted. It has completely ruined this insanely expensive experience for me and I wish I could go back in time and not purchase the truck.

Should just go and see whether all the trucks are the whine audible from in cabin..

That really sucks. For the sake of all of us, even the fanboys that think it’s a cute quirk, I hope you video it and put it on you tube and blow it up as much as possible.

Ineos is really fing stupid with these self inflicted damage to reputation.. I mean how much can it cost to replace these egregiously bad examples?
They are not a volume brand.. what is the point of having these shtty units out there with pissed off owners evangelizing against the brand?

There should definitely not be any noise. My diesel VIN 8xx has no squeal and the two loaners I have had for servicing/recalls (petrol 15k and diesel 1k) were quiet as well.
I hope you all can get a resolution as those video examples sound horrendous.

Here is a recording from inside the cabin.

The iPhone mic doesn’t seem to capture it digitally like how it hits the center of your brain in person, but it’s definitely there, I cannot unhear it, and I’m of the opinion that an $87,570 vehicle should not make this effing noise, especially knowing that not all of them do it.

This is with windows up and with the pump covered in a layer of sound deadening material which I forgot about. Will need to remove that and reshoot.

I don’t even drive the car anymore which may sound like an over reaction if you’re reading this and haven’t experienced it, but it’s really that bad/embarrassing. My wife told me it’s the first thing she hears before knowing I’m home. Its frequency carries through anything below driving above 15-20 mph, and with windows down it’s audible essentially anytime you turn the wheel, regardless of speed. It makes the casual dismissal of this issue that much more frustrating.

Need to stop my own whining for a bit before this takes over our holiday 😂 Will report back after I make it to the dealer. Appreciate all the feedback.

Hopefully this video works and helps in your comparison to others. The first part is windows up - no sound at all. You can then hear me put the windows down - the pump sound is present but I think much quieter than yours.

Kind of late to this thread. I hate that folks are having issues with the Power Steering Pump noises!

Fortunately we do not have any Power Steering Pump (PSP) whine or noises whatsoever. Our Grenadier was purchased off the lot back in late August of this year (2024) and has a build date of 4/24.

I have heard the PSP noises on a couple of Grenadiers I have seen and wheeled with but for some reason ours has never had an issue whether on/off road or while parked and moving the steering. We have 2500 miles on it now with about half being off road with a mix of rock crawling/washboard/snow/fire roads and haven't heard a peep out of the PSP.

Not certain why mine has no issues with the noises yet others are.

Pretty much, yes. Like many components on these vehicles some break-in time helped.
I recall steering pump/motor noise was a big topic when the US market launched then it seemed to calm down somewhat. Unsure if folks became desensitised or if their steering also became quieter then forgotten about.
No it’s still a terrible noise. None of the dealers here can or are willing to come up with a better solution than telling us it’s in a normal range.

This should really be a tsb. My lx470 had one on the tcase vibration, and that was a hell of a lot less unnerving and yet much more expensive fix.
