I don’t mind the pod at all. The reason I didn’t order the INEOS roof light bar was that I don’t want a full length rack as I have Safari windows and the only way without it is a silly looking roof bar right at the front. The pod solves that problem, and yes I will be taking off road and using high beam
Same for me - I'll be having a rack made that starts behind the safari lights, so I keep the function of both. TBH, I have roof lights on my Xterra, the few times I've used them they did a great job lighting up the trail, but my preference is to be off the trail before dark anyway. So for me roof lights are "nice to have", but not high on my priority list.

And I think it's great that Urban is already working on aftermarket parts. Not my market, but I'd like Grenadier to be around 10-20 years from now, not just today, and the market for shiny bolt-ons is 100X bigger than the market for an overland travel vehicle. When murdered-out Grenadiers on 35s start showing up in music videos, you'll know the demand is strong....

I guess it depends what one is trying to do. If one is just fabricating drawers for example, a sufficiently accurate scan can be captured with an iPhone, although you’ll need to use a measuring tape fo confirm scale/accuracy in your modelling app. I’ll post a point cloud/wireframe of the loadspace if someone doesn’t do so first, once I get the thing.

Playing around with renders would obviously require specialist kit, but again not crucial when the car is right there.
Sounds interesting. What app would one need to do that (iOS)?

Only thing I didn’t like was the spoiler. Wheels aren’t to my taste but who knows, maybe they look better in person. I like the light pod, doesn’t stick up as high as a rack and it is going to be tight in my garage already. This may allow the clearance needed. Side steps look much better then stock already. I generally don’t like the look of round and would rather have rectangular but it is already an upgrade. Very promissing that they were able to build them in 24hrs. I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of options as there are probably very few figment issues.

I don’t think it will be long before a few rap and drill music videos feature the IA. Might not seem like it but that will be good and bad for us. Good as in residual prices will be strong and the brand will continue. Bad in that the car ownership group who prefer not to pay for their vehicles but “borrow” other people’s cars off their drive in the middle of the night will definitely have the IG on their shopping list !!

As soon as my car arrives Autowatch will have access to spec for their Ghost, it should keep it on my drive👍

I have the desktop version of Fusion360, but there are several other options.
Then once you have your dimensions, materials and components decided, send it off to your preferred CNC machinist/cutter and bob’s your uncle.

If you’re messing around with exterior components, there are models available already, but I’d want to take a mesh off the real vehicle.

Yes and it will be very interesting to see how accurate and precise the completed vehicles are.
They seem to be going to great detail to get it precise. Perhaps normal now in modern automotive environments but a world away from how my old Defender was constructed.

I read one complete set of components is measured every week and the Quality Testing Centre contains a number of Zeiss Pro T machines which can take 1,000 measurements on a vehicle over seven hours.

So what 3m product would this be exactly? Thanks in advance - sounds like a good thing to do.
This stuff But there’s loads of options. Amazon or RS Components have lots and I’m waiting for delivery to work out the best size that will avoid me cutting it down. It’s also known as helicopter blade tape or bike protection tape.

instead of polycam, which eventually charges you for scans, try 3d scanner app- it free and lets you export to all sorts of formats. From there you can import to cloud compare, or several other apps to derive more information and work with the export. It's not a shallow learning curve to use it effectively.

The most wholesome part of this whole video is their road drive- the first one we've seen in a review, and they seem genuinely excited about the vehicle- having never seen one before. There's a lot of high end comparison in that shop. I think that speaks well of it's on road handling.

Within reason. I never think it's that easy - production can only be ramped up in stages or blocks.

There's going to be a shift limit, which can be increased with a 2nd, then 3rd shift but then you're into revising lines, adding new ones and eventually new buildings.

Best thing is they get the sales forecast to make it profitable enough to keep the ball rolling. There's plenty of spare capacity in the auto industry where companies chased the volume only to end up with huge fixed costs and a volume downturn.

OK, that's a different workflow. Thanks, I'll take a look!

Here’s one to mull over and to keep our collective eyes on.

It suddenly dawned on me that during the video, the owner of Urban, well at least I believe he is, stated he was going to order one.

Keep your eye out, and let’s see when he gets one. The cynic in me is telling me, he will have one, before a considerable chunk of people who have already placed an order on here.
