New software is now out 11th Sept 2023 (SW0000000364001946)

Who is your dealer/agent? Have the problems been solved? Do you have your vehicle back?
I am asking as I have been told by my agent that the only thing stopping them from handing over my vehicle to me is the software update gone wrong (odo and remaining range gone blank).
My dealer is Schmidt cars close to Munich. They had quite some troubles but were finally able to update the software. I've got my car back and it runs quite well and doesn't show any error messages so far.

I have a few different scanners, a relatively high end Foxwell one and a basic Bluetooth one with a phone app, I haven’t been brave enough to try plugging in yet, but might have a go and see what comes up.
Tried the Launch X431pro... connects to the car via OBD but not the entire canbus. It reads the engine and nothing else. Cannot do any bi-directional - cannot connect via it's VIN. Called Launch Australia, never heard of the Ineos, took my number as they were to call their HQ.. haven't called back - about a week ago now.

I just now did test my cheap Bluetooth OBDII tool with Torque light app.
No error codes on Torque, while my motor was running with on the infotainment screen the next messages:
  • power steering error
  • engine oil level low
The first one is clearly due to my 1939 software version.
The second one isn't!
But even the second one is (for now) still not critical.
Reading errors via the ODB protocol must not show all stored errors. It depends if the manufacturer presents all errors via that protocol. It is possible that a diagnostic system is necessary to read and delete all error codes stored in the ECU.

AWo

I got to imagine that all of the essential can messages are wired into the bus that connects to odb. I'm sure it's just the reader who can't figure out which can targets to read.

Well after a few days of playing around with the Grenadier, I would have to say that it would appear that the update has fixed most of the gremlins, as I have very few to report.
No bings and bongs that are electrical gremlins have appeared at all. (My front PDC do detect the front winch numberplate though which is a little bit painful)
There are still some electrical anomalies that clear themselves pretty quickly, but you don't really notice them until you start searching.

Diff locks lock really quickly, but do take a bit of zig zagging for them to report back saying that they are unlocked.

Are you sure you had the full update or just the USB head unit update? Last week I had mine in and they said that bit was possible but the full update was still several weeks away for Australia as it was still not loading on Australian cars.

Mmm, okay not sure - but the SW version is 1946 as displayed in the head unit.

I really don't know anymore than the fact that the car really doesn't have any major "gremlins" from my perspective.
Nothing that is noticeable anyway.

It’s great

1946 or 1949?

Have others noticed an improvement with the diff locks because of the software update?

I suspect the software version displayed in the headunit is the headunit software version but doesn’t show the version of the ECU updates which is the major part of the update that they are having issues with. The head unit bit is apparently about 20% of the full deal.

Ok so have had my new software installed. Have created a separate thread to share pitfalls. Big disappointment is that the mapping function re CarPlay is still a major issue. With the compass issues still there. Also the entire off-road mode screen on infotainment is now missing.

Disappointing... did the agent advise how they did the install... was it with a memory stick (headunit only) or did they also apply the whole of vehicle updated s/w suite with a specialised laptop?

Not sure but it took well over 3 hours. I believe they also have to perform a few other recalls - cables below the vehicle receive a new binding, also the CTEK unit needs a new connection. The dealership has been great, but seems Ineos very slow

Thanks for the clarification on the software...sounds like the full suite ...
Re. the Ctek Smartpass 120s unit..: you may find that they may remove the lower "out" port (which is shown as connected to a car fridge in the diagram in Ctek owner's manual ...(or install a replacement unit minus the said "out"port)
If you can confirm on the whether or not the Sth African diesel-engined vehicles have Ad Blue, and if not, how they got around it (i.e. not required) that would also be of interest! Thanks

As posted elsewhere, mine is all good. Cannot fault anything as yet.

I had hoped that the Radio stations would have coloured ICONS, but as before. Plus, the OFF ROAD menu is still slow to load, but I'm no longer showing an angle when level.

All in all fine, there are other recall items which will be done at a later stage, but I'm happy with todays visit to Chandlers, Belton.

Can confirm no Ad Blue. Not sure how they got round that.

Just updated at 1946.
It updates 5 ECU and 1 Infotainment.
For each ECU updating, an average time of about 5', more for the infotainment.
Total around 2 hours.
After that, some validations, errors memory erased, steering zero calibration.
Everything went smooth.
Errors completely disappears.
The engine can be started without any voodoo!
