Bridge of Weir leather...perfect for virtue signalling , but don't mention the word cow 😄

I find all that stuff to just be a load of 'castrated male bovine'
😁

They could have just said "vegetable tanned" and anyone who knows anything about leather will just think
"oh, good".

Is it me or is their Detour badge stuck on slightly squint? For that reason alone I am not going to buy one :ROFLMAO:

I had a half-dozen Saab 900s over the years with "Bridge of Weir" leather seats - they had tags on the headrests like this:

One of my favorite projects involved taking the tired Buffalo Grey interior out of a 1986 SPG that had 'good bones' and replacing it with an as-new Colorado Red leather interior from a 1987 turbo that was a "friction tester." The passenger and rear seats were probably never sat in:

Sorry to hijack the thread...

That's pretty cool, never knew about those. Using the word "hijack" was a nice touch too :)

From the Website:

Seat embroidery

Our Goodwood launch vehicle features Goodwood’s coordinates stitched into the front seats’ Bridge of Weir leather. But you can specify whatever you want. Design or text. It’s up to you.

As long as you don't request 'Recaro'...

Earlier this month, Lynn C talked about the company’s mantra “purpose built” was likely a concept they missed and needed to be reframed going forward. This looks inline with her position.

They released pricing when it was announced, IIRC ~$160k USD
For headliner, a new grill, and trim-specific wheels and leather upholstery? I’m really struggling to see what “there” is there. It seems like minor aesthetic stuff, and that seems like a hefty premium. Maybe some people will pay it for the exclusivity- but it seems the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. At least to me.

I mean the Grenadier is already somewhat exclusive for now. lol But with ya here I am one that likes the special addition models etc but this one unless I'm missing details wouldn't be worth it based on the price of the one I bought.

They aren't going for the enthusiast with the Arcane Works models; it is to tap into the market segment that said the Grenadier is too cheap (it does exist) and that are willing to pay more for effectively a bespoke model crafted to their desires

Yeah it seems it’s just about the exclusivity- because the premium elements just don’t equate to a $60-80k markup. Maybe there is no value equation - maybe the increased price, itself, is the value for that segment and it just needs a little credibility to back it up. Buddy of mine from Moscow used to tell a joke. 2 oligarchs show up at a reception wearing the same Hermes tie. One says to the other - “nice, how much did you get it for?” “I picked it up in Paris for 750€.” “Oh, you got a bad deal - I got mine for 1500€.”

The daft part is that a large proportion of us are already modifying/adding to the vehicle in one way or another to make it unique. By getting the special edition, it's not unique and produced to someone else's specifications. I suppose they could then adapt but meh.
(Had to Google 'meh', not young enough to be 100% sure if meaning was correct)
