Katzkin leather seat covers

Hey There GN4HIR,
I too live in Houston, and came across your Katzkin seat covers post and love them. Can I ask you where you had that done?
Thanks,
Steve

Mossy will do it. When I bought my Grenadier almost a month ago they had several on the lot where they had already upgraded to the Katzkin seat covers. If I recall they were charging basically the same thing as the leather upgrade from the factory.

The install was done at All Out Offroad but I only giving them a B- on the work. I know Mossy gets theirs done at Texas Auto Trim. I initially went directly to Texas Auto Trim but didn't get a good feeling. When you deal with Katzkin they will make the arrangement for install and handle paying the installer.

Use a frozen gel pack, wrap in a towel and sit on it. It will keep the area frosty.
at first I thought this sounded goofy but damn it doesn’t now that I think about it lol. I am a home builder in Knoxville Tennessee and am in and out of the truck all day. I’ve limited my INEOS searched to cloth because of this reason. But your idea is interesting lol

Having a good installer is key. Just search your local area for installers. I worked with one in Orlando, family business doing customer interiors for a few decades, and the result was awesome (on my son’s Subaru).

I'm going to bump this old thread to say that Katzkin is now doing IG seats. My dealer had a couple of IGs done. The Dealer was charging about 2X what Katzkin charges if you call them direct. I was quoted $1895 for a 'factory' order (solid black or grey) and $2195 for a 'custom' order (two tone) and that includes installation. I forgot to ask the charge if they embroider or emboss 'Recaro' on the covers.
What color did you go with here? Looks like their tan, but they have so many to choose from and its hard to tell much from pics online.

If you are looking at my two tone seats, they are Cognac and Black with Cognac stitching and piping. If you are referring to the first picture of the all tan seats, I don't know the exact color as those were installed by the dealer; however, I bet if you send the picture to Katzkin they could tell you.

The diamond stitching must be more as it looks like they charged me much more than some of you paid, and they only did the seats (no center console, door inserts, steering wheel). My first one (Eldoret blue) I ordered with the stock black leather, but the second one (Queens red) came with the katskin leather seen in pics below. Honestly sitting in both on a regular basis, IMO the katskin actually feels more comfortable.

GN4HIR, I have been in touch with Texas auto trim like you mentioned to get my first one changed to katskin (different color and like I said they just feel more comfortable), I had been talking with Christina and she seems very nice. I haven’t been in person like you appear to have been, they also did the upgraded seats in pics for Mossy on my 2nd one and to me excellent work. Any insight on why you didn’t use them? I don’t want to send my vehicle over there and spend extra money if they have issues.

I’m a big fan of Katzkin, had them in my last 2 F150s and they both looked great and lasted!

I see 2 issues with the Grenadier. #1 is they don’t simply go overtop your current seat, the installer removes your factory seat covering and replace it with Katzkin. Who’s going to tear off RECARO fabric or leather to replace with Katzkin? And #2 the cost. On my F150s I had to select a package that was $8-10k just to get leather. I didn’t want all the other stuff, so $2000 for Katzkin seemed like a good deal. If you want leather, why not order factory for the same $2000?
I just posted on this. It’s because at least to me, the katskin is much more comfortable. I have 2 Grenadiers and one is factory leather and one is katskin and I can 100% feel the difference. I actually thought the same and that the Recaro would be better because of the name brand compared to “katskin”, but I was wrong and now a big fan of katskin (never had their leather before to be honest as I didn’t think it was high end, but now have a totally different perspective). So much so, I am getting my first Grenadier with the factory Recaro leather redone in katskin!! Plus thinking of having one of my other vehicles also redone in katskin. That’s how much they have impressed me. But this my opinion only and I am sure there are owners who may feel differently. To each their own I always say…👍

Seeing now that ppl have had time in the seats, seeing how they like the feel and comfort of katzkin covers?
