What is the Forums thoughts on these wheels. Kahn guy tells me to run 305/20/50 and I’m looking at the Nitto Grappler. Thanks

A couple of considerations... 305/50/20 is about 0.4" larger in diameter than stock so not a large difference, but the width is substantially wider. If you're planning on lifting the vehicle, I'd go with a larger tire. Also making the assumption that it will rarely if ever be used off road given the fairly tiny sidewalls of a 32" tire on a 20" wheel.

All of Nitto's tires have "grappler" at the end of their name, so that's hard to give advice on without knowing which one.

Thanks for the reply. They are the Nitto Ridge Grappler. The guy at Kahn recommended that size as I told him I do not want to do any modifications, lifts, etc. I just want to put tires on the rims and mount them. Hate to say it , but I will not be doing much off roading. BTW…I love my new IG!. Do you see any issues? Thanks for any feedback.

If you aren't going to do a lot of off road travel, I wouldn't go with Ridge Grapplers and would recommend a much milder (read: quieter, smoother, and usually longer lasting) tread pattern, like a Michelin LTX M/S2... But then again, if you want it to have the chunky/aggressive off road look, some sacrifices must be made. If snow driving is a concern, I'd recommend a 3PMSF rated tire (the Ridge Grappler is not), probably the mildest 3PMSF tire that isn't a dedicated snow in a 305/50/20 would be the Hankook Dynapro AT2

Thanks so much. I will see some snow , so your saying for all around you like the Hankook or ? Les Schwab is in my small town and I’ve bought Toyo in the past for my wife’s RRover, and tire from them that you like? Thanks

305/50/20 is frequently a "sport truck" tire, so there are a lot of performance-centric tires in that size; and then a handful of all terrains as well (for vehicles maintaining a 32" tire and going to a 20" wheel)...

Plenty of good Toyos in general, the Hankook is the least aggressive all terrain that is 3PMSF rated. The Toyo Open Country A/T III is also a great all terrain and is 3PMSF rated.

Tires, as with everything automotive related, are a give and take between opposing ends of the spectrum. Tires that look aggressive won't be as quiet or smooth on the road (in general).

I'm pretty sure there are more than a few folks on here that have the 20" Kahn wheels and will chime in soon enough with their experiences

Thank you for saving me from being the one to say this.
Your welcome, it was the first thing that came to mind
Given everything we all know about the car and the company along with the design it’s a very odd choice in my mind but each to there own
I was hoping for a bit of insight but not holding my breath , my gut is mall crawling poser who enjoys the look at me but the funny thing is that in the case of look at me they don’t realise people never do.
They look at the car not the individual and most who know the car will think WTF
Oh no, now I have one it, said exactly what I think and not a woke I don’t want to upset anyone mindset

I’m willing to bet that anyone who puts 20” wheels on a Grenadier will not own it after 2 years. They want a mall crawler but they are going to find that what makes it so good off road comes with on road sacrifices that they are not willing to live with just to be fake cool.

I've seen plenty of old Defenders on such rims. So many must like them.

All the city folk put big wheels on.
I want to see a Grenadier slammed.

Yeh lets keep the Grenadier for only the purists, those who go extreme off roading, needed for life or death situations, none of this leisure off roading crap!
Why not make people justify their reason for buying before even being allowed to order, then we can make sure they only go to a good home.
Or should we be pleased they are purchased by all sorts of enthusiasts, no matter what they want to do with the vehicle or how they want to style it.
We have dealers and service agents closing down, we need bums on seats, sales through the door or we will all suffer.
Lack of sales, less interest for the aftermarket manufacturing companies, less dealers means less support, higher insurance, lower residual, think it through.
Even if someone sells after two years so what, gives someone else a chance at the product that could not justify new.

What’s the difference between a truck on 21s vs a lifted truck with 35’s, bull bar, roof rack, sliders, and jerry’s that will probably never go off road? IMHO, the guy that puts 21” wheels is at least honest with his intentions and use.

I think its interesting some people border on getting offended regarding what someone else does with their vehicles.
