Has anyone used the jumpstart post in the engine bay as a source of power for something like a winch? It appears to use a heavy gauge wire which I would think is sufficient to power a winch.

It's a high amp lug but I cannot recall if it was winch capable. DR Roks manual may help.Has anyone used the jumpstart post in the engine bay as a source of power for something like a winch? It appears to use a heavy gauge wire which I would think is sufficient to power a winch.
I would think that if you can jump start through it then it can handle the load of a winch but it would be great to get confirmation. It's a high amp lug but I cannot recall if it was winch capable. DR Roks manual may help.
Correct. I swear it was rated in a thread here somewhere I couldn't find it. I bet @Jean Mercier would know!!??I would think that if you can jump start through it then it can handle the load of a winch but it would be great to get confirmation.

I’m guessing that this is the GP Factor solution that you are waiting on.I have the high output wiring. It has a winch power tap behind the passengers side headlight. I'm sure it connects to the jumpstart taps. I know that gp factor knows how this is wired, I talked to him about it a few months ago. I'm waiting for his winch solution to ship to me.
He researched how to install a winch without the high load output wiring installed.
Positive does indeed connect to the jumpstart box…….at least on RHD carsI have the high output wiring. It has a winch power tap behind the passengers side headlight. What are you using for your ground? i'm tying to put an anderson plug under my hood.I'm using an extra lug in the jumper box for my winch, no ill effects as of yet. It is very substantially sized
There's a sizable bolt just adjacent to the positive power boxWhat are you using for your ground? i'm tying to put an anderson plug under my hood.
Would you recommend me putting the cable mount there or directly to the battery? I was also debating putting one on the battery with a 3ft lead and just curling it up under the seat. There's a sizable bolt just adjacent to the positive power box
If you'll be using a 350A load continuously, I would probably find a more direct to chassis grounding point. For intermittent (winching, jump starting, etc) loads it should be more than sufficient; of course, YMMV and if you're worried about it, put it under load and check the temperatureWould you recommend me putting the cable mount there or directly to the battery? Most of it's use will be to run my portable air compressor but there are times I'll use it to help jump something. I'm not one to walk over and instantly start cranking though I usually give it a minute or so to help charge. I also have a jump pack. My main culprit is usually my older boat motors. If you'll be using a 350A load continuously, I would probably find a more direct to chassis grounding point.
