I do look toward to install reports. But showing my cards, for that price I’m a Jerry can man.

If you don't tow, and rarely go where you need 200+ miles of range without access to a fuel station, then yeah its a hefty price to pay. I suspect that once you buy the tank, pay for installation, and pay to modify the exhaust, it will be in the ~$4K range (at least).I do look toward to install reports. I would imagine partially the (fairly) low uptake rate of the option and perhaps more so the additional testing/verification/certification processes required for an OEM to offer something like this.I wonder why IG didn't offer this as a factory option.

Probably highly market dependent, I'd imagine the uptake in Australia would be pretty high..
Smog stations also check that the vehicle computer (as it relates to emissions... aka tune) has not been modified.View attachment 7885902
Unfortunately, there are almost no aftermarket fuel tanks that are legal in California because of CARB. LRA will not ship any of their tanks to any California address.
That said, there are lots of overland type vehicles in California with LRA tanks without issue. LRA will ship the tanks to any other state such as Nevada or Arizona and an owner could get one and bring it back to California. Once in California, the only time the fuel tank issue might come up is during a smog check, but smog check stations are not generally inspecting for fuel tanks. They only check the engine compartment and make sure there is a factory fuel filler with working gas cap. If someone painted their auxiliary tank and removed any obvious LRA logos, they would pass smog checks with no problem.
Its a gamble depending on the tech. I had a friend that bought an out of state vehicle with dual tanks. When he went to SMOG it, the tech noticed that it had dual fuel fillers because of the Y design of the filler neck and failed him on the spot. It's these situations its good to have a friend that works at a SMOG shop.View attachment 7885902

I am in the same place. I would already have ordered a tank from Long Range if I knew what the modified exhaust sounds like.Does anyone (Long Range America) have a comparison of the audio difference? Between Nevada and Utah, I would really like the extended range without a lot of fuel mounted on the side. As a daily driver, I would like the hear the difference in the exhaust. Louder is not better for me.
If you are willing to do that, you could just go to a exhaust shop and have them build it out for you. Last exhaust I did here in AZ custom ran on a square body chevy was 390 all in.I called and left a message asking if I could purchase just the pipes and didn’t get a return call. I’ll try again some other time.
Considering the cost of kit I didn’t think it’d be too much more than 500 and it’s already sorted. On an hourly rate view of my time, why deal with bullshit when for a few bucks more is hassle free.If you are willing to do that, you could just go to a exhaust shop and have them build it out for you. Yeah I see your point, didn't factor in if you would just cut the current system and pull it down and if you didn't like it weld it back together. From what I gather its all one solid exhaust.Considering the cost of kit I didn’t think it’d be too much more than 500 and it’s already sorted. I doubt it will be as loud as that one since that is a muffler delete, the version on long ranger's website says, "Requires new muffler, which is included in the kit as pictured."Yeah I see your point, didn't factor in if you would just cut the current system and pull it down and if you didn't like it weld it back together. also found this it should basically be the same thing since both are muffler deletes.

I didn't catch the expanded tube would be a muffler. Not much, but may be all it needs. Good point.I doubt it will be as loud as that one since that is a muffler delete, the version on long ranger's website says, "Requires new muffler, which is included in the kit as pictured."
