HULK! Oh sorry, HUKYes, interesting.
HUK24 told me they can't, and I should ask HUK. What's your offer, HUK or HUK24?
I’ve now spoken to NFU who do our other vehicles and after a bit of faffing, got a price c £450 per annum, fully comp, £1000 excess for 12,000 miles per annum social, domestic and business commuting.I spotted this earlier and ran a quote just to see. Got an annual premium of £1050 for a 54 y/o with full no claims and £1000 excess.. This seems expensive and I’ll be on the phone to NFU next week as they’re my go to insurer.
Any other UK based folks on here got any other prices?
I bet you could guarantee NFU at least a dozen referrals at that rate. NFU have a great reputation and I will be giving them a call myself. I have a clean license, no claims, countryside address, etc. Would like to think my quote would also be competitive.I’ve now spoken to NFU who do our other vehicles and after a bit of faffing, got a price c £450 per annum, fully comp, £1000 excess for 12,000 miles per annum social, domestic and business commuting.
They don’t actually have the Gren on their system so I ended up going via their underwriting section. They used a land rover 110 2.2d as a proxy. I will have to wait till next week for the formal quote but for my circumstance, NFU are the winner by a country mile. It did help that the Scottish call handler was enthusiastic about the Ineos Gren story and was very interested in the ordering process to delivery..
So that's a last generation/old shape Defender not the current new Defender? They don’t actually have the Gren on their system so I ended up going via their underwriting section. They used a land rover 110 2.2d as a proxy.

I’m not sure, but they understood it was a £60k Ineos. The call was quite long and they even downloaded the brochure to obtain engine power and alarm specs. They we’re trying to use the mild hybrid defender as an proxy and it was them that decided that the 110 defender 2.2 d was a reasonable risk equivalent. So that's a last generation/old shape Defender not the current new Defender?
Count me in too if we can all club together and get a group discount or forum discountCount me in
Those prices seem too good to be true. I wonder what’s covered in the small print and wheat the excess amount is.Interesting.
I used the mild hybrid new Defender as a proxy on the price comparison websites to get an indicative quote of £226.60:

For comparison, my current Defender 110 2.2 has a renewal quote of £139.34:

So I'd expect your quote based on an old 2.2 to go up appropriately.
Those figures reflect better what I currently pay on my Td5 DefenderThose prices seem too good to be true. I wonder what’s covered in the small print and wheat the excess amount is.
could be that premiums reflect that, in the main, owners will be ”more mature” and less likely to be boy racers. Perhaps insurers will apply a general old farts premium discount. Those prices seem too good to be true. I wonder what’s covered in the small print and wheat the excess amount is.
No huge excesses - off the top of my head £500. It's just the combination of factors that apply to me.Those prices seem too good to be true. I wonder what’s covered in the small print and wheat the excess amount is.
Well that 2nd quote was from Saga.Perhaps insurers will apply a general old farts premium discount.
i spoofed the delivery date to 3/1/23 which maybe why I got an indication of premium. I’m awaiting the formal quote from them and as soon as i get it, I’ll update you accordingly.NFU not wishing to discuss a quote until within 30 days of insuring.
Ever pragmatic. Do you have any contact details? Perhaps if I contact the same person/ Office, we can start to get some inertia.
