I wanted a place to occasionally secure valuables so I spent the bucks on an over-priced lockbox that is specifically-crafted to fit in the empty space beneath the driver's seat. It took about 20 minutes to install and required no modifications to the vehicle. I think it turned out nicely. Of course, I realize nothing is truly secure if someone is determined to get into it.
However, for the typical "Smash & Grab" thief, he probably won't take the time or have the tools on-hand to pry it open. On a related note, has anyone engineered a suitable place to securely store a handgun in the vehicle? (I am CCW-licensed, btw.) My nifty new lockbox can store it, but it isn't accessible without stopping and opening the door. I'm trying to come up with an alternative option that would place it within reach. I really don't want to go with one of those hanging gear kits that are suspended on the back of the seat. Those things are too attractive to thieves. TIA.
