Hi friends, I'm really screwed and I just wanted to let off some steam and get rid of some of the anxiety I have on top of me. Last Friday they called me from the INEOS dealership in my area to tell me that I had 5 pending campaigns and at the same time they had to do a software update. They made me an appointment for Monday 28th, I took the car to them and they told me it would take a couple of days (the dealership is about 20 km from home) until then everything was fine, but fate, bad luck, or the elves of destiny, have wanted there to be a Dana (Isolated Depression at Height) something similar to your hurricanes, which has devastated Valencia, nothing happened in my house, I live in a high area, but the ground zero of the disaster has been where the dealership is. To be more specific, after four days without any news and without being able to get close to the area (it is completely devastated), yesterday I was informed that the car cannot be accessed, but that the water level has reached four meters high. It could take several weeks, even months to clear the area and that is what is there. Sadly the death toll is now over 200. I guess the loss of a car is less of an issue.

Thank you for your support, I really need it. I am aware that the most important thing at the moment is the number of people affected and the desperate situation of the people, as well as the number of victims. The forecasts indicate that they will far exceed 1000, but in the face of this panorama, in the best of cases I will be without a car for a looooong time. My insurance, both my comprehensive insurance and that of the dealership, are inhibited as it is a natural catastrophe. And I have to claim from the state guarantee fund for natural catastrophes, with all that this may entail in the face of the avalanche of thousands and thousands of claims. But anyway, in the end it is only money. We will see what happens.

Horrible. There aren’t words for mass destruction. We had a ton of exposure to Asheville and had significant property damage/loss and a couple of employees die. I’m so sorry it is tragic and unfortunately the work of cleaning it up is not easy. Try to protect your sanity, as much as you can. The physical work is hard the mental tax has been brutal for me and I imagine will be for you. The climate stuff is hard to wrap heads around but seems to be getting much worse

Very sorry to hear this, and I'm very sorry for all the people in Spain that have been impacted. I love Spain and its people and am heart broken reading the news.

I just heard on the radio about the flooding in Spain. The local reporter on the scene reported that there is mud everywhere, impossible to find a spot to even sit down on. Its an absolute tragedy with so many lives lost.

I'm at a bit of loss for words for what i can do except to express my sincerest sympathy for you and for the people of Spain.

Sorry for your hardship and the devastating losses in your community.

Not to hijack the thread but, in the US and Canada, the dealership’s insurance would likely be responsible for the loss as they had custody of the vehicle while it was in their possession. Is it different in Spain?

On another note, I saw the following on the web regarding the Sept 16 Dana. It appears your government is accommodating all losses related to that Dana. Hopefully, you will be made whole.

“In the case of flooded cars, the insured will be entitled to compensation from the Consortium, regardless of the coverage contracted. It will be enough to have the legally compulsory coverage of civil liability or damage to third party’s insurance, in order to be entitled for compensation.

Finally, the Consortium informs that there isn’t a limit to the total amount to be compensated, so they will pay the corresponding compensation in accordance with the insurance policy contracted by the affected insured, even if the final cost might significantly exceed the first estimates made.”

What happened is devastating and I'm sorry to hear you were affected. Being only 20 km away is uncomfortably close. My deepest sympathies for you and your community.
