Looked at a Grenadier at the new Nashville dealership this weekend. The color was ‘gun metal gray.’ My understanding is this was a precursor to Donny Gray. However, it definitely looks lighter. My big question is if it’s gun metal gray is this an older unit that has sat around forever?

One of my general questions is wondering if all these units at these new dealerships are in fact ‘new’ or if they’ve been pulled from existing dealerships.View attachment IMG_6370.jpeg

As stated above, there is only Donny Grey... A very early prototype (IG001) was in a lighter color, but that was old enough that it didn't even have an engine in it.

Also, everything you see at dealers is new... Only pulled form existing dealers if there was a dealer trade involved

I stand corrected. The VIN No is 21462 so a late build and most definitely not sat around.

EDIT: Is the North American market changing Donny Grey to Gun Metal?

I'm not aware that any other grey was released earlier than Donny Grey, certainly not in the UK. I thought the US production line was started at the same time my Donny Grey was actually in build. Very curious. If possible have a look at the VIN that will give some idea of build date I'm 7601 and built circa late Sept 23.

There has only ever been Donny Grey. The Grey spelt GREY tends to change it's intensity depending on light conditions.
Yes the Donny Grey paint has a high mica content and looks a lighter in bright 🌞

The gun metal gray was definitely lighter than the Donny grey. I liked it more. Donny grey is a little too close to black to me IMO. The gun metal was BEAUTIFUL. Metallic really popped.
It's the same color. Just went back and looked at my window sticker and it shows the same "Gun metal grey", but in fact the truck is Donny...

It drastically changes color depending on lighting

The people at the Nashville store couldn’t have been nicer but these rebates at existing stores are hard to pass up. It’s tough to justify spending $5000-7500 more for what is essentially the same vehicle.

I have a Donny Grey with contrast black roof. In bright light the difference is very noticeable but not so much in overcast conditions.

That would make sense. The Donny was pulled out in the middle of the parking lot and the ‘gun metal gray’ was in between two units.

So do we think the color started out as one name and then they changed names? I am trying to figure out how early or late of a build date it would be. I guess it may be on the door jamb?

Alex, is the option on the American configurator, as in the UK it most definitely isn't? I have Donny Grey and sometimes it looks Black as Eric has just said.

The VIN quoted is a new build, so it must be an importer request to use either name.

It’s not on the configurator. That’s the first thing I checked.
