I like the idea but not prepared to pay $500US for a bit of bent plate.
Hi. I just did the same and bought the ARB Twin Compressor. Do you have any photos or details of the wiring?
I just use my Anderson style output at the rear of my Grenadier to power my compressor, only works when the motor is running so the full voltage for better power to the compressor. Tanks are pointless IMO, I know i have one in my camper for the air suspension, unless you are using a massive tank which is ridiculous.I'm a KISS kind of guy so I would prefer to run the compressor on it's own circuit. That way it's not dependent upon having a key in the ignition. I tend to be diligent about vehicle shut down so I'm not too worried about draining a battery. If you are then mount a lighted on/off switch that you can see when exiting and you should b pretty well covered. If you're anywhere in the vehicle or near by you should be able to hear the compressor turn on if a leak develops. Omitting a tank would also reduce the possibility of leaks when away from the vehicle as well. With the Ineos dual battery system I don't see how it matters where you're drawing power from as the batteries are always connected and trying to equalize - so to speak.
Agree with the tank comment and I have no intentions of installing the tank with the twin compressors that are 100% duty cycle.I just use my Anderson style output at the rear of my Grenadier to power my compressor, only works when the motor is running so the full voltage for better power to the compressor. The ARB twin should be wired directly to the starter battery. This is because the alternator supplies currently directly to the starter battery and the engine should always be running when using the compressor. It can draw 80amps when under load which is very high current. If it is wired to the auxiliary battery then it is a longer current path as power from the alternator has to first go through the starter battery before reaching the auxiliary via the Ctek combiner. I don't know the position of the starter battery in right hand drive Grenadiers. It is behind the driver in left hand drive versions.Hi. I'm not a brilliant mechanic or electrician but I'm preparing my Trialmaster to have the Twin ARB Compressor mounted in the jack space utilising the Black Sheep mounting kit.
I think I have the main parts figured out (thanks to other members for their input - and an electrician is coming later this week to do the connections. I have a couple of questions that I really need some help with:
(1). Do I connect the compressor to
(i) The started battery
(ii) The auxiliary battery
or (iii) Does it not make a difference which.
(2). Which is the starter battery and which the auxiliary?
Many thanks
Gwynne
(1) Most people connect the compressor to the main (starter) battery, but it can be fitted to the aux battery. My compressor is fitted to the 5 stud busbar. If the compressor is wired only to work when connected to an ignition source, it really does not matter. Since the compressor only works when the car is running.Hi.
