That's a Nato type socket (female) and powers up anything that you have suitably wired with a male Nato connection. A little like the tow ball electric socket. Same but different. It's a universal type socket used worldwide, more popular in some places than others. (armed forces etc).

Thank you for this. I may never use mine but if I don't use it until 5 years from now it's only going to be more difficult. The storage compartment on the spare is the same way, better to take it off on a sunny day on your driveway than a cold winter's night.Now - hopefully you can open it.
