General Engine oil level - diesel

Sorry if this has already been covered in previous posts, but I noticed the hand book states you should not use the oil dip stick to check the engine oil level only the onboard computer. Is there a reason for this ?

Accessibility, and I think the configuration of the engine layout/ sump are different for the B57 engine when used in the Grenadier. Meaning an inaccurate reading from the dipstick

Indeed! However, if one is truly intent on using the dipstick, then it can be calibrated fairly simply: remove the engine cover, withdraw the dipstick and scribe a "mark" to correspond with the "full" (when hot) reading as determined by the electronic sensor. Wait until the engine is cold and recheck the level and scribe a second mark. For those who are truly pedantic, additional "hot" and "cold" marks can scribed for the 500ml top up required for "off road""....
