Background
INEOS has identified a safety related defect relating to door button mechanisms affecting
vehicles covered by this notice. In a proportion of affected vehicles, the door button
mechanism may have been assembled without a sufficient application of grease. This may
allow the exterior door buttons to remain in the depressed position and prevent the door from
fully latching.
If the door does not latch, it may open while the vehicle is in motion...
My dealer said just bring it in and they’ll replace it under the recall. I’ll do it in a couple months - just triple checking the button on that door when I close it ;o)Happened to me, well the Mrs. Caused a massive bust up to be honest.
I picked her up after a night out and she was well lubricated (drunk).
I drove off, a couple of minutes later I went round a round about, and the passenger door flung open and nearly hit another car. I went berserk and blamed her for not shutting the door properly. On checking, the door handle button was still wedged in.
Ineos will find themselves in court and being prosecuted over this if they are not careful, when someone is killed or seriously hurt.
It still isn’t fixed now and I am talking about an incident from last summer. The dealer made a lot of excuses about door buttons being made on unobtainium and then pulled out of the Ineos network. Utter shite.

The thing that has me really confused is it only happens on one door for me - if it were material and not something about assembly inconsistencies, I would have expected to see it on the other doors. I have no idea.I’ve been wondering if it’s the material or mechanical they changed. It seems to me it’s the plastic type. It appears to wear and the interfering surface keys together and it’s made worse with water.
I’m also wondering if they will have to pay for any damages. We barely missed park cars twice so, some one may have hit something.
