Why not? It's common for manufacturing faults to appear in batches. A machine tool has a cutting tooth go out of spec, they make 500 parts and dont QC any, and all 500 go into assemblies that get shipped out to a manufacturer that isn't doing a good job of QA, then they get to a dealer that either has to deal with it and delay sales and profits or move the units and wait for complaints, and maybe the manufacturer corrects them.
Ours made the exact same noise - terribly frustrating. There is a misconception that we are all talking about the same noise - which we are not. Most Grenadiers make a slight sound when you start the engine and then it stops. But clearly there are a number of Grenadiers that make this squealing noise non-stop. We took ours back, got a loaner vehicle that did not make the noise, so we knew it was not "normal". I also watched as others new Grenadiers were driven off the lot without making any noise as well. The dealer (who was very understanding) replaced the steering pump and that solved the problem. INEOS needs to take ownership of the issue and make the fix for those that have the problem. Ours was embarrassingly loud driving up and down our alley, picking up kids at carpool, etc. It literally ruined the joy of having an otherwise great truck. For the price they are charging and the well-healed backing of INEOS, they have no reason not to help their customers. Hope you get yours fixed.
