I received official notification from Ineos, Lynn Calder this morning for all door handles to be replaced, yes my buttons occasionally stick after rain, but very easy to manage even Jacquie ( wife ) does not mention it just flicks it out, I will have to look at her technique as she does it quicker than I can, and I thought I was quick, my vin is 9848 so in the mid range of affected vehicles.
They said they will replace the door handles during the next routine work shop visit.

I have pretty much the same experience with occasional sticking lock but no big hassle we just push button to the side slightly and it pops back out. Same email arrived today.

I was wondering the other day if the same happens to G Wagens and Wranglers etc with similar set ups?
I think the last car I had with a push button opening was my ‘58 FC Holden ute.

I had it on 3 of my 4 doors since the "almost" beginning. Once the door of my passenger flew open while doing an U-turn. Lucky there was no bicycle on the road!

I got the mail twice on Friday. It begins with:
"We’re aware of reports currently in the media relating to an issue with the Grenadier exterior door button."
Waw, what a lousy communication: so, they heard it through the media while it is a recurrent problem since the beginning?

Then, 13 minutes later they send the mail again!

I have complained often in the past of their lousy customer satisfaction approach!
They still don't learn!
A pity!

But I still love the car!

I smack the top of the door handle with the heel of my hand and it pops out.
Still surprised people unlock the door, get in, close the door and don't notice it hasn't closed properly or latched.
They also don't see the door open warning on the display.

If you close from the inside you don’t notice the button hasn’t depressed. The door however registers as closed and no warning is given. Only when pushing the door which is heavy can it still be detected as being open.
Factor in children sitting in the back and you’ve got yourself some proper risk of an accident.

I tested mine an hour ago.
I managed to get the button stuck down.
Climbed in and closed the door and the door open on the dash stayed on.
I drove a couple of metres and it went nuts with alarms.
Must be different I guess in other vehicles.
I have never been able to lock mine with the button stuck down and the doors auto lock at 13 kmh so it all seems a bit strange.
I think maybe newer models or US models may be different.

Mines been closed and swung open when I went round a corner. Has happened a couple of times. No warnings. No bells.

Too many people seem to be of the opinion that the sticking lock issue is no big deal. Maybe not a big deal if you are the only one driving, but becomes a big deal if you frequently carry passengers. You have to baby sit everyone's door every time they get in. Door swung open for a few people already, what if I had my dog and the door swung open in the middle of the road?

Anyways, I am really concerned that someone here got the recall done and still had a sticking lock..

Well - for now, I just have passengers push on the door to make sure it’s shut - obviously for a pet, someone will be letting them in and will close the door. Absurd, I know, but it works for now. Now that I know, I just double check and don’t have to worry about it - it’s not like it spontaneously comes unlatched

I haven’t received my notice yet but going in for service soon. Asked dealer about doing the doors while it is there. Dealer is 3 hours away now. Apparently they don’t have the parts yet and sounds like INeos is only sending to those dealers where customers have received notices.

My agent in Australia said the same here too. All vehicles having all 5 door locks and handles replaced.

Yes, the old fashioned button can get stuck in the inside position, especially after rain or cold weather. Then the closing mechanism does not latch in. Happens to me almost every day. Normally, there should be a warning light that the dooor is not fully closed, but with the stupid Grenadier electronics, this light sometimes may not come up.
Reason is a lack of lubrication, so the button stays inside. I sprayed a bit of WD-40, which helped for a few days. But the best is a visual quick check to see if the button is out. Since the Grenadier is anyway a bit like an airplane, such a pre-flicght check is ok.

Not to pick on you @stapffmanfred, but the reason is not a lack of lubrication. Lubrication is a temporary Band-Aid. There should not be any lubrication needed for these to work correctly, its either a bad design or bad execution/manufacturing. I'm glad they are fixing it.

Being in Arizona, this is a seasonal issue for me. In the cooler months (Dec, Jan, Feb) my two passenger (right side) doors stick at night or in the morning when it is cooler. Once the sun is up and things are warm, they work fine. I've taught my wife and kids to watch for the issue and make sure its actually latched (check the button is out when you open the door, if it is not, use your thumb to push the button towards the front of the car until it pops out). But, I had my parents in the car a couple of weeks ago and forgot to double check and sure enough the door swung open on my Dad while making a left hand turn. There was no prior warning light on the cluster of false alarms.

I just got the recall repair completed (full replacement of all mechanisms plus new ignition cylinder and keys) and two days later the rear button sticks open. Must be a design flaw... I am beyond annoyed - took a week to get the parts and I had to foot the bill for a rental car in the meantime. Also, had the safari window seals replaced due to water drops running down the windscreen and still had water trails this morning after a good downpour. I love my Grenadier but the little things are making it hard...

Well, my rear driver's side door button still sticks - even though I already went through the recall swap. Not only that, but my automatic lock switch on the driver's door card is now not working.

Questions for those who have not yet gone through with the recall because I honestly can't remember...
1) My interior passenger side door card has a blank where the auto lock switch should be - is that how it was before? Or should it have a switch there?
2) The front passenger door also now does not have a lock on the button of the door latch. I thought it had one before, or am I crazy?

There is no lock button on the front passenger door. They may have forgotten to connect the wire for the drivers door lock.

Well this sounds like a crappy recall service. I think I’ll wait this one out for 6 months while they figure out what they’re doing - just double check the doors and give it the ol’ @anand whack when it sticks.
