Door Locks

Looking for this?

Yep - I’m one of them. In the 11,000’s. Rear passenger door swung open - my little urchin was in back in a booster seat - I made a left turn, the door opened and she screamed. My dealer tried to do the fix per the TSB, but it hasn’t fixed it - I notice the door button sticking after a car wash, oddly enough. It’s like clockwork. Since it happened, I triple check to make sure the button pops back out after I shut the door. It’s only the rear passenger side that does it.

Happened to me, well the Mrs. Caused a massive bust up to be honest.

I picked her up after a night out and she was well lubricated (drunk).

I drove off, a couple of minutes later I went round a round about, and the passenger door flung open and nearly hit another car. I went berserk and blamed her for not shutting the door properly. On checking, the door handle button was still wedged in.

Ineos will find themselves in court and being prosecuted over this if they are not careful, when someone is killed or seriously hurt.

It still isn’t fixed now and I am talking about an incident from last summer. The dealer made a lot of excuses about door buttons being made on unobtainium and then pulled out of the Ineos network. Utter shite.

My dealer said just bring it in and they’ll replace it under the recall. I’ll do it in a couple months - just triple checking the button on that door when I close it ;o)

Damn scary.

thank you for posting this
all for of my exterior door buttons failed after a rainy december and january.
My dealership removed them and repacked them but after about 2.5 mos they have started to fail
its kind of a big and basic miss
i hope this recall is able to fix the problem. it takes about 2 hours a door to tear them apart

The issue seems temperature related on our car. Initially both driver and passenger side door handles would occasionally fail to latch. I did @anands hammer adjustment on multple occasions and now it only seems to happen when temperatures are freezing or below. The driver door (LHD) seems completely cured. It also takes less effort to free up the buttons when it does happen compared to previously. Will have the dealer address thngs when we go un for our yearly next month.

I’ve been wondering if it’s the material or mechanical they changed. It seems to me it’s the plastic type. It appears to wear and the interfering surface keys together and it’s made worse with water.

I’m also wondering if they will have to pay for any damages. We barely missed park cars twice so, some one may have hit something.

The thing that has me really confused is it only happens on one door for me - if it were material and not something about assembly inconsistencies, I would have expected to see it on the other doors. I have no idea.

Are you guys saying that:
a) the door actually appears closed properly, and
b) your door ajar warning light doesn’t go off like a petulant child,
when the button is stuck and you close the door??

When someone tries to close the door with a stuck button on mine you very soon get told it’s not shut.

Just trying to work out if something else isn’t happening.

It was closed but not latched - so the sensor thought it was closed (no warning bong to wake the dead) - but then swung open when I turned. That’s why they are issuing the recall (I think). Now that I know it’s a problem, I can hear the difference when it hasn’t latched, and I double check to make sure the button is not still stuck in the depressed position. It’s only the 1 door, and I think only when it’s wet (rain, car wash etc). That’s the pattern I’ve noticed and some others seem to say the same.

Usually the screen will let you know but this morning it didn't. I had opened the passenger door to place something in the footwell before walking around and getting behind the wheel. The passenger door seemed to close correctly and there wasn't any indication of and open door on the screen. I idled down to the corner and did a U-turn to head the other direction and the passenger door flew open so fast I was worried I had sprung the hinges (probably would have on a lesser vehicle). I had to stop, get out, walk around, unstick the knob, re-shut the door, and trot back around to the driver's side to continue on my way. Did I mention it was sleeting?

Have the confederate flag on the roof French on rear side glass, German and British on front wing. That would be one confused Grenadier!
Once again, the British supporting the Confederacy. You’ve seen the physique and age of the average grenadier owner, right? And you know how high the window is. Guaranteed someone “makes themselves a eunuch for the Kingdom of God” with that move.
