Breather lines are already installed? From my recollection they are high up at the back in the engine compartment If you take water in through them then your already floating and in deep trouble

At the DC event today I asked where they were, and the rep (Tim?) pointed them out on the ramped Grenadier...unfortunately it is not relocated up high into the engine compartment, the front one that he pointed out to us was a simple differential vent located on the driver side portion of the front diff/axle (obviously this could be remedied with a piece of fuel line and zip ties) Regrettably I did not take pictures of this but will do so next week at the NY event.Breather lines are already installed?
As Promised, here are some pictures I was able to snag of the diff vents on the ramped Grenadier at the NY event.Breather lines are already installed?
Fantastic. First photo I've seen of them.
I think I recall @Ingemar mentioning, in one of his videos, that his had extended lines? I wonder if that was extra prep by Ineos post production line?
That's how it looks to me- just like the Toyota factory ones. Hopefully they are easily unscrewed and then replaced with a real breather higher up.Working assumption is that they are just one way.
How do one way breathers work? surely air should be allowed back in as the diff cools down otherwise you have a vacuumThat's how it looks to me- just like the Toyota factory ones. Hopefully they are easily unscrewed and then replaced with a real breather higher up.
Usually through the axle seals. How do one way breathers work? surely air should be allowed back in as the diff cools down otherwise you have a vacuum
good explanation here; How do one way breathers work? surely air should be allowed back in as the diff cools down otherwise you have a vacuum
OK thanks. I just never understood the process.Usually through the axle seals.
Ok from reading that isn’t there a flaw in the Ineos design then,
I'll be running them up into the engine bay/RAI or other. Rather they are out of harms way. Perhaps IA know exactly what they have done and why but until fond out more will plan to re-route.Ok from reading that isn’t there a flaw in the Ineos design then,
vacuum created and then drawing water into the axle via the seals whilst wading. I dont suppose wading mode could mitigate that
Thanks for that Dave I understand now. What I don't understand then is what is Ineos thinking? Is it that if you switch on wading mode you will then get a warning telling you to wait for diffs and transmission to cool down before entering the water? They must know something we don’t to say you can confidently wade in 800mm of water with the one way valves installed.
This is the setup Ronny Dahl recommends but he also recommends waiting a minute or so before doing a water crossingThanks for that Dave I understand now. Thanks. I want to get to the bottom of the Ineos thinking on this. The Grenadier is built on purpose after allThis is the setup Ronny Dahl recommends but he also recommends waiting a minute or so before doing a water crossing

I guess they were thinking their solution will be ok for 90% of their customers and the other 10% will change whatever they supply to their favourite solution anyway.I

I think we just need owners to check that the installation seen on what I assume to be prototypes in the US is actually what's on production vehicles.Thanks. I want to get to the bottom of the Ineos thinking on this. The Grenadier is built on purpose after all
