Didn't IA nix that as being ok?
Now that you mention it, I vaguely remember something about that... A quick look at the MY24 configurator for the RoW shows that the front hitch plate is no longer offered

I think there was confusion that the hitch plate would be strong enough to pull the Grenadier out of sticky situation. My understanding is answer was no.

There’s a thread about it somewhere, if only we had someone who knew how to find it 🤔🤔🤔

No, not allowed.
I asked Ineos and was told it is not rated for the load.
Which is odd, given that a hitch in the rear is rated for the load.... and the same mounting points it attaches to can also hold a winch....

I was also told the front hitch is only rated for low speed driving and positioning, which makes sense.
I guess positioning you would be driving forward and low speed driving you would be in reverse over a short distance only.
Rear hitch is designed to handle 3,550 kgs at 160 kmh on and off road.
I guess they have derated the front hitch because you would never do that unless insane.

Cost of mounting plate for the front is $945 which is not intended for full winch “work out”
Tow hitch and electrics is $800.
Thank you fellows! I’m finding funds for my safari windows!

i asked this as well the detachable winch
Hi Paul,

Thank you very much for contacting INEOS Automotive.

The rear removable winch weight is 40kg.

It can not be used on the front of the vehicle.

The rear winch is not a permanent fixture to the vehicle.

The high-load auxiliary switch panel is still required to power the rear winch.

The winch slots into the vertical towing interface 2” hitch insert and locks in with a pin.

The advantages of this are, that it can be stored safely when not in use and transferred between vehicles.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further assistance.

Thanks,

Neil
