Crap, I have some kind of an oil leak! (Transfer case output flange)

I was thinking the same thing.
1) Anyway to catch this at PDI? I am not too shy to crawl underneath and have a look when I go pick mine up.
2) What are the build dates of the ones that are leaking and is there more than 2 that we know of?

1) seems to take a few hundred miles for the leak to become apparent, but I’d still peek.
2) mine was august build date (delivery in late December)

I'm not sure that you'd see this at PDI, as they are fairly "fresh" off the boat, and definitely not with many miles on them. If it was leaking enough to be seen (like in the photos above), it would absolutely be caught at the PDI

As of about a week ago the only transfer case leaks in the US reported to dealers/Ineos were on this forum, so the overall numbers are quite small

I noticed a bit of oil leaking under my grenadier recently, not sure what it is. Any advice?

Have you noticed any drips on the floor. Mine had what I thought was a leak in the same spot. It was the same color as what you have, but was more like a grease than oil. I wiped it off and has not come back in a couple hundred miles.

That oil appears to be motor oil. It could be dripping down from the oil filter, and tracking along the motor. Try and trace up the motor to find the leak. Or start on top of motor and look for where it looks dry, to where oil is present. Check all sides of motor. Looks like dripping down on starter motor. Could be coming from bell housing, and rear main shaft seal.

It seems to be that I have a leak at the front differential. Noticed some small spots of oil on the floor, so I took a closer look. See pictures. :(
It's getting real Defender looks now, it's starts to piss my driveway.... But it's a bit soon, only have > 26000 km now.

I have the same and couldn’t get it fixed in Southern Africa as apparently a special tool is required that they didn’t have.

This transfer case leak is becoming more common. I’m curious why only North American vehicles are beginning to see this issue while I haven’t seen reports of this out of Europe/aus/nz in 2023.
My transfer case (AUS vehicle) appears to also be leaking so its not limited to only US cars. Looks like its the TC front output shaft seal others have been reporting here.

I think Temec had a batch of bad seals. Mine was a 12/23 delivery in the US. Manufactured about 08/23.
It was definitely the font output shaft seal.
They only had for a day to fix it (not a big job).
Can’t really blame Inoes as they buy the transfer cases from Tremec

So it isn’t fixed yet. I am afraid that once they want to fix this, the car will be a time out. And that would be a problem for me. Well we will see on Thursday when the car goes to the dealer for some other fixes.
Just noticed this older tread. Just toe give you guys an update. When the car went in for his second oil change, they also fixed this leak. Just a joint, no big job. All under warranty.

Ok…
Rear differential oil leak 😞
Quite lucky I had to cancel a South Island overland trip booked for last week! 😮‍💨
Looks like the seal to the driveshaft entry point 🤷🏼‍♂️
Luckily I’m already booked in for an annual service on Tuesday so hopefully they have parts and can resolve this at the same time🤷🏼‍♂️
Any supportive comments gratefully received 🤣
Edit: I have a 150km drive to get there so will obviously speak to them on Monday but any thoughts or advice on whether this would be ok? 4/5 drips so far but it’s clearly ongoing!

Supportive?

.That's terrible.
..You're doing a great job.

A little mantra I learned from our politicians 🙄

There's been a few of these input seal leaks. Some are just a few posts back up there☝️
A theory held up for a while that it could be due to a blocked or over-zealous breather. But then at least one report came in of a new leak after a raised breather kit was installed 🤷.

Anyways, that's what the warranty is for but it's still a PITA on a newish vehicle. Hopefully your agent can sort it out quickly.

2015 birth year and no oil leaks as yet 👍🏼🥰
My Disco 4 , 2013 , 150,000 km of towing and outback tours and not a single drop, not even a seep.
I just need to touch wood every now and then to make sure the crank stays in one piece
I would have a Gren in the driveway by now if it wasn’t for, mmm, well everything, oil leaks, water leaks, electrical gremlins, heating and cooling gremlins, drive shafts and no real service options other than a dwindling dealer network
Sux really as I really want one but not willing to put up with all the issues.
Ineos get your shit together

My front diff oil seal had a weep for thousands of miles on my African tour. I just kept a check on oil level occasionally and got oil seal replaced on my return. It looked like a lot of oil on outside of diff but in fact oil level always seemed ok.
