Sorry didn’t think a thread on “chuckle of the day” would turn into a debate on guns. I will only post this and leave it be.

I am sorry anyone’s view on guns is so negative and I do understand the anti gun side. However, when a bad person does bad things (which is unfortunate and inevitable), a gun protects the good. I welded one and did things I will never discuss openly or on a forum to stop these bad things/people from taking innocent lives. I don’t celebrate it or want thanks, but I know without guns more lives would be lost. I know people like to throw out statistics about how guns kill so many people each year, but those statistics are always taken out of context. The majority of all gun related deaths are suicide, I have lost several close veteran friends due to this and it has devastated me. More than most will ever understand or experience. However, I have never blamed a gun for their losses. If they didn’t have a gun they would have chosen another method. A gun is just an inanimate object needing a human hand to make it function. In my lifetime of gun ownership NONE of my guns have ever jumped off the wall or opened the safe and walked out the house on their own to do any shooting!!!

What about knives, they kill many people as well and in the countries where gun laws are very strict that’s usually the weapon of choice. Ban all knives too? Cars, everyone on this forum I would suspect owns at least one and drives it/them regularly. Google car deaths yearly vs gun deaths. I will admit recently those numbers have got closer in the USA. Obviously I deplore any piece of shit that goes into a school or places of employment etc and commits a mass shooting, but it’s the person committing the crimes. The anti gun vs gun advocate will probably never see the same side of things, but when danger or lord forbid death is knocking on your door, I will bet anything I have that you will want someone with that device you hate to be there to protect you. If that someone happens to be me, I will be there for you if I can, me and my inanimate object of hate……ok I’m done, back to why this thread is here……

I've only been to 20 countries , Russia included, but the only place I've ever felt unsafe (as did my wife) was the USA.
Snakes , spiders, sharks etc don't bother me at all. Largely they exhibit predictable behaviour, and don't do drugs or booze.
In the bush and at home I don't carry a knife or a gun.
I just counted 27 countries, plus Australia, that I have been in and never felt unsafe or that I wanted a gun.
I have never been to the Americas though.
I sometimes carry a swiss army knife or a leatherman when driving in the bush or for work.
I have my .357 magnum locked in a safe, but that is for target shooting only.
I do have a 4 foot stick (Jo) behind the bedroom door. At least that's where I last saw it.

Mate, as long as we keep it light hearted and not argumentative then anything that makes us smile, grin or chuckle is ok for this thread.
Something that came up on here about 2 years ago was just the point that we all live in very different countries, with different circumstances, different wants and needs, but we are all driving/buying a Grenadier.
If that doesn't make you smile and chuckle then nothing will.

I like also the post of @DaveB ...

I have been in 59 countries, including the USA, Russia, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Syria (yes, also!), Pakistan, Liberia and the Vatican.
That was as well for a living (3 countries), as for business, as for tourism.

I will not pretend I felt everywhere completely safe. In one business trip a gun was pointed to me, by an army man!

I prefer also animals, the worst animal on this globe is mankind.

In Australia, arriving at the house of a a woman in Jabiru (Australians know where this is located) with a sick Australian friend and his brother, she said "X" can sleep in the bedroom of the kids, and one of you on the couch in the living room and the other in the tent in the garden. She had a grin on her face and said: "but beware there are very poisonous snakes in this region". The brother of X (city man) looked very scared. I answered with a smile: "what happens if I get bitten?". She said: "You yell, and I will bring you to hospital, and you will survive". I slept in the tent. If she had said "burglars with weapons", I would have slept on the floor in the living room.

Most tourist visit the worst part of the USA (New York) when they come and say this. I am a proud American citizen and I don’t even visit there. If anyone visited Ohio, Montana, Wyoming, etc etc (heck even my little ole state of Louisiana) I find it very difficult to believe they would have felt unsafe. Sorry for you & your wife’s bad experience, but if you ever decide to come again and can make it down to Louisiana, send me a PM and we can hook up and I’ll show you the “Cajun experience”. You will never want to leave my friend…..😉😎
I've never been there, but I can well imagine being there. Under the Cajun Moon - Down at the twist and shout. 🤠

Yea I have only been on this forum for a few months and if you can believe it, this is the ONLY online place I post on (very private person). I read other forums and online sites, but this is my sole posting site. However, I am starting to feel more and more at ease thanks to the good people on here. We may not all agree on things, but it seems for the most part everyone accepts the other side and willing to listen/debate the issues. Plus I don’t think ole Stu puts up with much non sense on here, which I also like. You do have me curious as what happened 2 years ago. 🤔

Btw, I do not care one way or the other if your a gun person or not, what religion (if any), or any of your likes/dislikes/beliefs or whatever you want to compare. My personal opinion is that everyone has the right to believe or like whatever they want and doesn’t bother me at all if it’s the complete opposite side of my likes/dislikes/beliefs. (Even if I am usually on the right side of things 99.999999% of the time……I joke I joke I kid I kid 😉😎). Now I may speak up and state my side of things, but I don’t hate on other’s opinions/beliefs. 🙌

Right, having been to 134 countries……………..

Sorry, this is the joke thread so I couldn’t resist the Topper. 😂😂

Back at the dawn of time this forum was mostly Europe, UK, Africa and Australia and very light hearted, and as there were no vehicles, it was a lot of supposition and guesswork.
It was also a lot of who are you, what are you going to do with it, and backgrounds.
Then they started to deliver it and it was mostly @Jean Mercier stripping out every nut washer and cable tie and taking them back to his dealer/s.

The ages were also a lot older and 60 was a young fella.

Lots of jokes and chuckle in your day. Hence the reason we are up to 116 pages.

I can only recall one person who got offended and left the group.

Last year or so it seems large numbers of people want to get offended, get aggressive and take away the fun and community feeling(Not aimed at you).
I have noticed a lot of the old contributors have gone from here.

This is meant to be informative, enjoyable, fun and build a global sense of community.

Seems some people just want the first point or only things that relate 100% to their country.

Thanks for that! Wish I could have been here in the beginning. I wondered what people talked about when there weren’t that many of these on the roads 2 years ago, heck not a lot now. I am so glad I bought my first Grenadier and found this place!! 👍🤝
