So, I removed the 3 sockets as advised, but still see no cables ending in this area.
Start to wonder if they have forgotten to pull them (early model)

BTW... where is the repair handbook that has been promised ?
It may well be hiding under that black insulation tape - mine only had a bit of the wire ends visible, but maybe it’s covered up in yours?

Did you choose the aux power option on your car?
Not sure why you posted an angry mojo to my question @Traveling Marvin the extra power circuits come with that option, if that is not chosen the car will not have them, no matter how hard anyone looks. If you chose the option, the extra outlets will be there, keep looking. Some higher end INEOS models have the aux power option as part of the extras, like the Trialmaster (but not the Fieldmaster by default) in Australia.

Your profile did not tell me which model you own. I looked before posting the question. So I asked a relevant question.

If you want to do this too, please note that the installation space is very limited. Have a look at the pictures. But the sockets just about fit in these places.

Very nice solution ! I might change my mind and go for the same solution.
Or a mixture with the USB socket in the centre and a 12V lighter socket in the door side panel.

The centre panels where you installed the USB sockets.. do they pull straight out, or are they connected to some hidden screws etc ?

Thank you Traveling Marvin. Yes, there is a screw at the very back in the footwell towards the bulkhead. You must first remove the narrow plastic trim above the pedals or under the steering wheel. This is also fixed with screws. 2DEA2174-EFAB-4E84-BC2D-92839CE88897.jpeg

Here are some pics of the install I did for my GME 2way and a footwell USB outlet. This was only spot where there was enough depth to install.
Nice one Gav! I’ve been wondering how to and where to put mine when I finally take delivery

Re. my previous comments, it's one of the reasons why the highway patrol in Australia cracks down on passengers lounging back with their feet up on the dashboard against the windscreen. There have been cases of folks having their teeth buried in their knees and worse when the aibag has exploded while their feet were up on the dashboard
Saw a little girl doing that very thing today and I cringed

I’m a Fieldmaster owner who didn’t spec the additional aux power option but yet I did find the dangly insulated purple-and-black leads in the passenger and driver footwells (and I’ve wired them up, and control them using the INT1 and INT2 switches).

Lucky you, maybe the UK model varies from the Australian spec Fieldmaster which is not suppose to have the extra circuits.

Do you have the under bonnet (x2) and battery compartment wire ends as well?

Yes, the Fieldmaster without the additional auxiliary power, still gets both footwell and one under bonnet spurs. Limited to 10amps and operated by INT2 - INT 4 switches.

I don't think that is correct. All market Fieldmasters get the footwell and under bonnet 10 amp circuits. It is the 25 amp that comes with the additional auxiliary power sockets.

Before beginning, let me be clear, I have a Left-Hand Driving (LHD) car. The only “right” way to drive a car 😉.

Therefore, if you drive a right-hand car (the wrong way ;) ), you should think in inverting everything I mean: left is right, right is wrong, up is down, and so on. Jokes aside, let’s continue …

I decided what destination I would give to the auxiliary footwell power point on the right side (passenger side) of my LHD car, actuated by the “INT2” roof panel switch. It is the side I would sometimes place a dash cam, my partner sits there sometimes (in the seat, not at the dashcam location), therefore she will need to charge her cell phone. Or anything else I need often, but will not be necessary for my driving.

I bought, months ago, before getting my Grenadier a Chinese 12V to USB 5V power point (2X USB-C and one time USB-A). My intention was to find a way to place it on my central dashboard instead of the seat heating switches position, that I don’t have any way! But I changed my mind, and will use it in the pillar!

First part (already posted in another thread, but I post it again here: “How to dismount the plastic pillar piece”:
Taking it off (with small damage, I mean one or two plastic pins slightly bent):
  • first remove the "footwell step", or how is this called ("Trim Panel"), pull it straight up.

  • Second, remove the floor mat, but first remove the plastic screw (in my case under the fire extinguisher):

  • Third remove the screw of the plastic wall cover at the right side. Don't forget my car is Left Hand Driving (but for Right Hand Driving people, everything is at the other side of the car!), This picture was taken afterwards, without dismounting the floor mat.

  • Fourth, put your left hand (again, don't forget I have a LHD car) as high as possible with fingers behind the piece and tear it of as straight as possible. And here you are ...
  • Fifth the "pillar piece" looks like this, and don't ask me questions about that hole I made ... you will understand later, but look at the clipping parts!

  • I hope I forgot nothing ;) :teuflisch:
Once dismounted, I drilled a hole, see the picture above. Why at that place? Well, the higher the better (ergonomics, water getting in the car), but there are quite some connectors and wiring behind that plastic pilar cover, and the only suitable position was this one, if I didn’t want to modify other things.

Then I mounted my USB connector.

I stripped the “Ineos wires”, used three layers of heat shrinkable tubes, soldered the wires together (of the Ineos and the USB charging connector). I don’t pretend this is the best way (or most professional way) to do this, but comments are welcome

See next for more ....

I then connected the wires to the USB charging point mounted in the plastic pillar

I did push the pillar back in its place and tested the power point, and ready. To test it, you have to switch on the roof power button AND the INT2 button.

That’s how it looks when not in use! In my opinion, quite neat. Thanks for the applause 😉 and if you don’t like it, please tell me why 😊

Hi Jean, thank you for the pictures and description. Today I finally got around to installing a 12 V cigarette socket there. Everything went well. I just need to practice the crimping (cable too short and too thin and therefore no current flow, but absolutely tight). Now the dash cam draws the power from there and the center console is free again for the CB radio. The advantage: I can switch the dash cam on at night when I'm lying in the car and see what's going on in front of and behind me when the windows are darkened. Barney

I did the same, but my ports are hidden. I placed the usb ports behind the dash end panel. I use them for my dual phone chargers. Or for my Bird GPS system. I have the OWL dash mount with two PEAK designs Magnetic chargers.
