New heading

WINCH (REAR)
Can be ordered from INEOS or a third party rear winch from XLW here.

I have revised the wording for the diff breathers. I found the previous wording confusing, sorry about that. The new wording should be clearer. If any wording, in the thread, sounds confusing let me know and I can rewrite it.

I keep on hitting word limits meaning I have to reduce the word count and that can cause confusion also.

DIFF BREATHER KITS
Diff breather kits available from Air Parts Australia (3 choices) here. A basic 4 Point diff breather (AUD75), a 4 point Pro version (AUD89) and a 6 point version (AUD85). Look here for a selection of universal diff breathers available in Australia. If you buy a universal kit make sure your diff breather adapter fits the INEOS diff housing (M10 1.0 pitch) and the tubing is compatible with all parts of your kit.

GrenX has a diff breather kit under development.

WARNING: from time to time specifications change (in the links) and I am not aware of the change. Use the list as a starting point and check the precise details before you buy.

I speak from experience having made such a mistake.

I will add it. Product says Grenadier only, any reason why it will not work on the QM?

I cannot see a link to the installation instructions, as yet.

The STEDI™ SMART Harness suited for the Ineos Grenadier is for those who are looking to run auxiliary lighting using the factory switch controlling the grille lights. This all-in-one solution is perfectly designed to be unobtrusive with specific crafted lengths to ensure adequate cable management.

Our aim was to create a stress-free installation process allowing for use in conjunction with the factory grille lights or as a standalone just for auxiliary lights. Giving you peace of mind of knowing it will come together in the end.

  • Featuring a total of 4.8 meters of wiring (fully extended)
  • 2.4m of cabling from Relay to Switch
  • 2.0m of cabling from the Driving Light connector to the Relay
  • 2.0m from H4 or HB3 Adapter to Relay
  • Total cable length 6.4m
  • 12vDC 35A Rated Fuse Kit
  • 12vDC 60A Switching Relay
  • Push Button ON/OFF Switch
  • UV Rated Insulation
  • Instruction included.

WRITING AN INSTALLATION GUIDE TO HELP OTHER INEOS OWNERS

Stu has asked me to put together an outline to help owners write installation guides, so installation is easier for other owners.

Not all the products for the Grenadier or Quartermaster (QM) have decent instructions (some do some don’t).

Two of the guides I wrote for the forum were offered to the suppliers, on both occasions they accepted a version customised for their needs. Not all suppliers are good at writing guides or making videos.

My suggestions for writing a guide are below.

GENERAL COMMENTS
  • Use descriptive headings, like TOOLS NEEDED.
  • Detail each step in the installation process, using numbered points. Use pictures were helpful.
  • Limit each point to one or two steps.
  • Add in Tips along the way. For example, the recommended torque settings for the bolts.
  • Avoid missing important information. Sometimes Guides are written by people installing prototypes and they can forget an important step, as they have experience and already know what to do.
  • Note any differences between the Grenadier and QM? If you do not know, say so.
The key parts of any Installation Guide are:
  • Introduction;
  • Installation Steps;
  • Supplied Parts; and
  • Tools needed.
Let’s look at each part more closely.

INTRODUCTION
I keep this short, just a basic description of the Guide. Often, I suggest people read through the whole Guide before starting work.

INSTALLATION STEPS
Have numbered points for each step, use pictures where helpful and remember the items suggested under the heading GENERAL above.

SUPPLIED PARTS
List the parts that come with the product. Give the bolt size, nut size and thread pitch (or whatever else is supplied). Most parts on the Grenadier and QM are metric, for example (from the Custom Offroad Diff Covers Guide):

M12 bolts x two (2). Specs are M12 x 1.5 (thread) x 30mm (bolt length). Use the 18mm socket/spanner. They are metric bolts and threads.

Tell the reader if there are parts you need to supply yourself. List the details, so they can source the part from their garage or local hardware.

TOOLS NEEDED
List the tools needed like pliers, sockets/spanner, etc. This way you can get your tools and go to the car without repeated trips. For example (from the Custom Offroad Diff Covers Guide):

Long nose pliers (to remove the plastic bungs on the Grenadier or QM).
18mm socket/spanner (for the M12 bolts).
16mm socket/spanner (for the M10 bolts)…

If a tool is optional, say so.

Now proofread the Guide, in MS WORD use Review>Speak Aloud and the text will be read back to you. Edit the Guide, check you have all the necessary steps and make corrections. Leave the Guide overnight and proof it again the next day, you will find things to edit.

Listen to feedback and make needed changes. After this is done, I have offered the Installation Guide to the supplier.

BATTERY BOXES
Some Battery Boxes reviewed here. The Hardkorr BB was the winner but the DRIFTA, KickAss and Thunder are also compelling (and for some even better).
  1. KickAss Battery Boxes. My mini review here;
  2. The DRIFTA Battery Box. My mini review here;
  3. Hardkorr Battery Boxes (also marketed as the CAOS Power Battery Box);
  4. Thunder battery box customised by Accelerate Off-Grid Touring, or just the based model Thunder Battery Box here;. Also marketed under the name Drivetech 4x4 Heavy Duty Battery Box - DT-02008. My mini review here;
  5. Thumper Battery Boxes here;
  6. Ardent Battery Boxes here (with 1200W inverter);
  7. Mueller Energy Lithium Battery Box here (no DC to DC charger just a BMS);
  8. BMPRO Power Station (with built in inverter and 12 power outlets);
  9. Baintech Lithium Power Tops in 150 AH and 200 AH sizes.
  10. JTS Power Easy here;
  11. REDARC GOBLOCK (Premium pricing) here;
  12. EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max (you need an EcoFlow alternator charger to charge at the full rate, the cig socket is limited to 8 amps, thanks @Loc Nar);
  13. Entry level ARK PowerPack 3 here;
  14. The whizzbang POWER BOX Premium range here (3 models, 6 colours). Super premium pricing;
  15. Not really BB’s, but Enerdrive-Dometic is famous for their 4X4 Canopy Power Systems. More suited to a canopy on the QM Cab Chassis. I am not aware on any install in the IG. A new level of pricing compared to the BB’s. Tool Box Centre offers something (Redarc gear) as does MW Toolboxes (Victron gear) and Projecta Power Boards (Projecta gear);
  16. National Luna Battery boxes here (2 colours);
  17. Brown Davis DYI powerboard (5 models);
  18. BMPRO Canopy board here;
  19. Battery Box for the DYIer here (by MSA4X4) and Front Runner offers something similar here; and
  20. The Power Easy Expedition Battery Box here, with Expedition Weatherproof Lockable Case, DC to DC Charger, AC Charger and Inverter.

The ARB link goes to the ARB USA site. Odd???
Had a chat to ARB today at a "camping" show. Looking at installing a pair of Nighthawk 7". Anyone had any experience with these lights?

Added ARB AU

All driving lights have been custom installs, but last week STEDI released a wiring loom, the only one I know about in AU. You might be able to use it.
