FORWARD FUEL FILTER GUARD UNDER DEVELOPMENT
Stayed tuned because a guard for the fuel filter (see green arrow) is under development. Prototype already made and fitted.

The idea is to make the fuel filter and fuel line less vulnerable. At least one car has had the fuel line detached from the filter offroad, probably by a branch, disabling the car.

I need one. This is a need rather than want, as the filter is vulnerable.

This is excellent news. Quite a vulnerable component

Quite a few components are exposed underside of Gren... more than any vehicle I have ever owned. Thankfully the wife drives it mostly!

I just saw images of the second prototype with fitting instructions and gave some feedback. It is coming along nicely. Not long to wait now.

It is a DYI install.

We are finalizing our full sealed snorkel system with replacement sealed airbox & crossover pipe. We have decided to go with to the side entry variant for our first batch.

I found the TJM storage boxes are a good fit for everyday use in the rear of the Grenadier, well made and reasonably priced. The bonus is there are TJM stores in many large towns where you can go and eyeball them before you buy.

The advanced prototype (near final) arrived at my place today. I will try and fit it today or tomorrow.

The fuel filter guard is 4mm brushed aluminum with all the required bolts, washers, spacers and instructions. Compatible with INEOS side steps or with no side steps fitted. It should also work with my ABNTR4X4 rocks sliders, but I find out for sure when I fit the guard.

I'm keen for this. Hopefully its also compatible with the BlackSheep sliders which also use the factory mounting locations.

My sliders do not use the middle anchor point, they are secured at each end. The middle anchor point is the most important (for fitment), but the INEOS use the middle point and the guard works with them. So if the BlackSheep bracket is a similar shape at the chassis rail, they may work. Got a picture of the middle bracket at the chassis rail? Justin would be interested to see it also.

Most have probably worked out the guard is being designed and made by Justin at @euroflo

For me, this is a must have mod.

An earlier prototype here:

20241121_143349[1].jpg

20241121_142827[1].jpg

On the later prototype, the EUROFLO logo is also cut into the bottom of the guard in two places, so you can see any dirt, mud or grass buildup.

Also have the custom offroad bash plate which uses the middle point, but I assume most would be running these plates.

Another matter to consider, as I do not have the bash-plate, just diff protectors.

Is that the Blacksheep sliders? It looks like it.

Yes, Blacksheep sliders and custom off-road transmission / transfer case bash plates. Diff protectors are still on their way.

FUEL FILTER GUARD INSTALLED
The fuel filter/line guard is installed. It is a DYI job, but having a hoist would make things easier.

I made a few mistakes and suggested some revisions to the fitment instructions which are already easy to follow.

The EUROFLO Fuel Filter Guard is compatible with ABNTR4X4 rocks sliders.

The following only makes sense if you buy the kit. Three bolts are used in the install.

Long bolt (x2, seen in the second picture above)
Having a short handled 17mm wrench really helps to hold onto the nuts as you tighten the bolt head - there is limited space inside the guard around the fuel filter once fitted. The bolt head size was 16mm. I have never had a different size nut and bolt head before, so that threw for a while, until I realised what was going on. Bolt head 16mm, but nut size 17mm.

Short bolt (x1, seen in the first picture above)
18mm bolt head size, which screws into a per-threaded hole in the chassis.

Spare chassis bungs
You end up with 4 rubber bungs from the chassis, which I added to my spares kit.
