An Ineos dealership is coming to my area in the spring, which has me back to looking for a vehicle. I haven't been on the forum much of late, and feel the chatter about issues is much more quiet now. Does that mean they are getting some issues ironed out and making them more reliable?

I've been waiting on the sidelines due to dealership access and the software issues... beyond annoying things like the speed warning and service reset, I'm not aware of any real reliability issues. What have you been hearing about regarding reliability?

Mine has been 100% reliable over the almost year and 16k miles that I've owned it. Lifted on 35s for 85% of its life. It doesn't miss a beat.

I don’t know that there were any prevalent QC issues. You probably remember the AC hose leak - that seems fine now. Trailer hitches etc now getting delivered, and you can even add the wiring harness if it wasn’t in your config. Some units have been sitting on lot for a while so you’ll need to check the battery if you don’t do build-to-spec. Front drive shaft issues for those who did the Eibach lift (some of them) but that’s not much of a surprise - aftermarket solutions are showing up to address that. We’re all still fighting about whether the steering stabilizer needs to be swapped for an aftermarket option, whether it makes any difference etc. Some people absolutely losing it over steering pump noise and HVAC, but I honestly can’t tell if that’s real or just a question of expectations - if the Aussies aren’t talking about it but a bunch of Californians and Floridians think it’s the end of the world, maybe it’s them??? I honestly can’t tell - I have no doubt some units might have had real issues so be sure to look at that. And of course, we don’t yet have the ADAS SW patch or service manual. Soooo - that’s my view on the last year’s update. If you aren’t in a massive rush and don’t care about dealer incentives - you can just order your own config - but there is real risk you could be hit by whatever Trump does on tariffs. So losing a $5k dealer incentive and possibly a 10% tariff - a $14k spread vs on-lot inventory.

Driveshaft / lift issues are purely installer error.

I have had mine since March and I love it. Literally no issues at all. Everyone complaining expects it to steer and drive like something it isn’t. It works perfectly. I drive mine to work everyday and have not yet taken it off road. It is a fully loaded Fieldmaster and I would recommend getting one fully specd out.

This Ineos has kind of grown on me like a well fitting glove. I can’t imagine getting rid of it, that is how cool and awesome I think it is.

I put on a Milltek non resonated exhaust and it sounds awesome. I also installed a Leitner front light bar bracket and put on Baja designs spot lights. I think it is the coolest looking rig I have ever owned.

Oh I also put on rival skid plates and waiting for front and rear differential skid covers now.

Is this a perfect ride? Hell no! But that isn’t why you will love it. You can drive it literally anywhere and it is built like a fucking tank! It feels very solid and well built (which nothing does in today’s cheap disposable world).

Buy one. You won’t regret it.

Welcome Back!

We love our Grenadier! Purchased at the end of August this year and literally have had zero issues with it. 2500 miles with about half of that at least doing off road/rock crawling/fire roads here in the Rockies.

Bone stock except for a GP Factor cubby table in the back. I have a Leitner 3/4 rack in the garage and am awaiting their side Molle panels. I also purchased some White Knuckle Off Road sliders that should come within a month.

You might find that folks complain about the ADAS warnings for going over the speed limit but, to be honest, I don't get annoyed by it. If needed I have it programmed as a favorite to turn it off. NOT a big deal for me.

We love it and are very pleased with it!

Agreed... and now that the CEO of Ineos Automotive has announced the ADAS will be going away, I think you can scratch that one off the list of things that would hold you back. I would argue not to let that one hold you back even if it weren't on the docket for an update. Early reports of leaks seem to have been resolved, HVAC musings are mostly about small improvements and I think most would agree the Grenadier will keep you warm in the cold and cool you down in the sun. I had an outlier of a power steering pump but I could have addressed that faster by buying a vehicle that sounded like the others on the lot. Either way, that's resolved and I truly have nothing to complain about - the rest is small tinkering for personal preferences (which is incredibly fun).
My first experience in one was unique, off road in Botswana, and the way it outperformed the vehicle I was driving there was astounding. Easy decision then and a decision I would make again.

I’d say that’s about right. IIRC, the initial complaints were things like the warning lights, leaking seals, etc…

It seems to be a rarity on US builds. My 09/24 build hasn’t any issues except for low coolant that was affecting the HVAC. After dropping by the BMW parts counter for some coolant (picked up an oil change kit as well for later), everything has been working fine. I don’t believe the coolant was leaking, just not filled correctly.

Don’t know where you are in SC, but I’ve heard they’re opening one in Charleston. I’m in Greenville, so Regal Ineos in Roswell, GA is still closer for me. I’m hoping they open one in Charlotte or Asheville, NC.

What does the serial number on a 9/24 build look like? If I get one I’d like one built as late in the MY as possible. There’s a lot of early build, stale units floating around that I’m steering clear of.

Two Grenadiers, 23,000 combined miles, zero issues., one is lifted, the other is stock. Picked up one in December, ‘23 and the other in March ‘24. The QC issues, etc., have been wildly overblown by a few internet posts and the resulting interest. Several of the QC issues have been obvious trolls. Unfortunately, the trolling continues to ramp up as the Grenadier gains audience.

Steering is great. But it is different. If you’ve never driven a Jeep or old Cruiser, you may find it off-putting.

The overspeed warning is disabled with two button pushes. I’ve never understood the fuss. It’s as easy as changing radio stations or putting the window down.

Honestly, it is my experience that all new 2024 vehicles have a “nag mode” built in that has to be disabled at every start. The nanny state is real. My 2024 TRD Pro Tacoma has a crash avoidance, lane keeper that has to disabled every time.

If you have a dealer nearby, you’ve cleared the biggest hurdle of ownership.

I’ll have to check later. I’m away on vacation.

FWIW when I was at the dealership picking up my truck, the vast majority of the builds that had been there for a while (over 90+ days) were the odd builds/combinations that started as basic builds, not many Trial or Field masters: I.e. no lockers, no roof aux, blue body w/. red frame, or a FieldMaster with snorkel and 18” aluminum wheels/stock tires, no lockers, etc…. Those were the ones that were discounted by $5000. There were about 15 units IIRC.

Speculation was that the ordering process allowed too many people to order something that they had no intention to buy. With that said, I’m not sure how many you’re going to find that are “normal” builds that have been sitting for a long time.

I don’t think you need to worry about steering clear of buggy trucks. I definitely wouldn’t buy one sight unseen and would definitely test drive the specific VIN you’re considering because the power steering noise on some sound pretty bad. I got lucky with mine.

Be careful over reading the issues on forum, honestly the forum should add a bitch and moan section, since a lot of issue you read are not on majority of the trucks. I have Dec 2023 build and have no major issues. AC and Heat work great, truck tracks well when set up correctly I can drive with one hand. It drives good on road ( fantastic at altitude I live at 7300 feet above sea level and regularly run up to 13,000 feet above sea level ) and it come off road it come into it own. Love taking on the trails

The nanny stuff while in convent, when you start up the truck you wait for CarPlay to turn on then shut off the speed warning, then take off. It be nice when we get software update where it stays off. Even my X5 I have stuff to shut off but there it attached to my profile so it remember my settings with key fob. For me this now on autopilot and I just forget about I am doing it.

Just love how the truck drives in the mountains

@angstorms Agreed!!

TBH, I thought the ADAS was going to be more of a PIA than it is. When I read others saying it wasn’t a big deal before I had mine, I thought it was new ownership honeymoon stuff.

Now that I have mine, I can literally do it without looking.

I still contend that it’s unnecessary and will be thankful if/when it’s finally gone but it’s definitely not the inconvenience or deal breaker that some make it out to be…or maybe I’m one of those “honeymoon phase” owners trying to justify my purchase 😂😂😜

@Robedon26

I have about 10,000 miles on mine with a good mix of highway, city, off-road, hot, cold and daily drive mine. So far it has been great, zero problems. Having owned a couple of BMW engines the break in period is actually a good thing to follow. Its buried in the user manual..

I would bet money that the dealer way over inflates the tires, so it will drift all around and be horrible on the highway at first. Note the recommend pressure in the manual is different than what you see on the car and in my opinion it is probably a closer match.

Do yourself a favor and make sure you read the manual, yeah yeah yeah that's boring but it has some recommendations that are worth taking note of.

Wait, what? Our seats have a thigh seat extension and tilt? Did that really come from the Grenadier manual?
