I'm going to do it next weekend.
Just ordered a jig saw blade and cutting fluid from Amazon:
Bosch T127D Special for Aluminum
A9 aluminium cutting fluid

I went ahead and did the mod today. It took about an hour and a half to do the whole job.

Did the square notch yesterday (using a Jigsaw and an aluminum-specific blade with aluminum-specific cutting oil - hat tip to @parb for the model numbers). It didn't take long at all. Used blue tape as a cutting guide and had the plate clamped to a sawhorse for stability. Getting it installed was a bit of a chore because the crossmember and my chassis weren't exactly the right dimensions (I had to use 2 washers instead of one of the included spacers, and even then needed a bit of hammering). Once in place it was a breeze to get some LocTite on the bolts and tighten everything up. I did notice the relative tightness of the work area under the truck compared to my lifted '94 Defender-90 on 33s. :) Taller tires are definitely on the want-list.

Since we just picked up our Grenadier....have the "cutting issues" been resolved with the underbody protection? Very interested but would like to NOT have to do some cutting on the skid plates.

Rival is having a new version of the skid plate coming out in mid-november. They have stopped selling the current version until then. anything you order from rival today will be the new design. If you got the old design you can either notch the plate in the location where its too tight or they will send you the updated version once it ships.

Thanks for the update! Something on my list!

My Rival skid plate showed a ‘contact mark’ from the front differential just from street driving. As I DO plan on off-roading before November, I went ahead and had the front corner ‘notch’ cut.

Has anyone fitted the Rival radius arm skid plates? I can't find detailed photos of the product online.

I am looking for 4 protections for the 4 radius arms. Almont only makes the left rear one and SPP only has the rear ones.

can you post some pictures? do you have any alternatives to rival?

thanks

I’ve fitted the Almont rear left plate but isn’t the rear right covered by something possibly the fuel tank guard anyway. I’m not with my vehicle do can’t check that.
Edit that. I think the fuel tank guard sticks slightly lower that the right side arm so fairly well protected anyway

Transfer Case skid plate from Rival fitted without difficulty. Although it looks low, actual ground clearance is a bit over 11”, which is still more than the OEM Fuel Tank skid plate.

Mine arrived last week. I am debating on whether or not to install it before Moab.

I got mine on Friday. But I left for Moab Friday morning. I'm somewhere around winnemucca in Nevada.
Planning to roll into Utah tonight.

Are you perhaps waiting to see if this skid plate actually protects (or causes ‘hang-ups’) on our trails in Moab?

More like I am feeling lazy and I don’t want to run into the problems with the insert nuts that some members here have had while installing. I already chased the threads to prevent cross threading.

I need to get the front suspension spring problem on my wagon remedied first.

I cannot wait to meet up with everyone.

Installed mine this morning. The insert nuts are fiddly for sure, and the one that goes into the chassis is a little scary since if you lose the holding tabs, you're SOL. Got them all in, though, so no worries. For the two that go into the cross member, I used an Allen wrench through a nearby hole to put some downward pressure on it to make starting the bolt easier (after already running the bolts all the way through the inserts beforehand).
