DIY halogen aux lights...no-cut

I had mentioned in @BenTN 's LED thread that I prefer halogen. I finally got around to booty-fabbing up a solution.
I had some SIEM driving lights laying around I took off of a Euro Landcruiser 75 import.
Drilled a hole in the back of the housing and another hole in the grill bucket. Ran a carriage bolt through with a wing nut and...

Just took out the OEM lights and tightened the halogen buckets against the OEM housing.
I put some 1/8 solid neoprene between the two to keep the light from walking around. Not sure of it would have, but now sure it won't.
Wired to the 25 amp circuit under the hood.

These I took off of a 1987 75 series Troopy.
Most likely they are from the 80's if not the 1970's.

I was initially very disappointed with the light output. I had ordered some 130w bulbs for them a while back so I swapped them in.
The bulbs I replaced were 24v 70w.
No wonder they were so dim!!!

Nice and bright now.

Lazer Lamps are working on a grill kit for their 7" Sentinel series to replace the existing lights.

I tested them last night against the garage door.
Much brighter than factory aux lights.
Brighter than headlights on high-beam.
Definitely not as bright as the Lazer video above.

I wired them directly to the 25a lead under the hood with 12ga wire.
I only had them on for maybe 10 minutes, but noted no problems.
All my research tells me it should be good on that circuit with wire runs <4ft, but others with more electrical knowledge are welcome to chime in.
The Lazers above are 110w/ea and mine are 130w/ea, so wiring should be similar, but obviously light output of the LEDs is more.

On the electrics page of the Gren display, the alternator continued to put 4a charge to the battery with the lights on or off.
At idle, voltage would drop @ .5v when switching lights on, but amps recovered to 4 in half a second.

The most important thing with LED lights is the quality of the reflectors.
Most old lights and cheap LED lights just punch out the light in a circular pattern.
Lazer have very high quality reflectors and they guide and aim the light

Is this the start of a retro movement. How long before people are retro fitting PTO’s and discussing how much steel rope they can get on their winch 😃 👍

I even found myself on eBay earlier looking at these lamps on their, most seem to be in Italy though.
