You would wonder why Nissan wasn't taken to task over the G60...Maybe money changed hands...Mine was a G60 1969 and the Defender is my daughter's from the last batch 2016?
I don't think it was sold in UK or Europe early on so Landrover probably didn't think it was a problem.

I just saw one of those Nissans at a cars and coffee... It looked totally stock from the outside, but had a small v8 and a highly modified drivetrain... Beautiful ...

While there are still some derivative designs coming out of China most of their new models now show a very mature design language that is as modern if not more so than Japanese, Euro and US brands. The reality is in the next two to five years they will come to dominate most markets that don’t use massive tariffs to defend their local manufacturers. Brands like Zeeker, Nio, XPeng and BYD will take over markets like Australia.
Pics from Shanghai last year.

I wonder if this is how old defender owners felt when pictures of the grenadier were released? 😉😂
Interestingly enough Justin Hocevar commented on that subject and suggested that a lot of Grenadiers owners still have an old Defender at home, just like me who was just waiting to see the new Defender, then along came the Gren and the story, the evolution, the rest is history (y)

As a 90 owner, not in the slightest. LR abandoned the utility vehicle market and Ineos stepped in with something as close as you can get to the old defender but better all round. And I say that with the utmost love of my 90. I have never held onto a car as long as I have my 90.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some of these companies opening up production facilities in the US or Europe.
Much as Honda, Nissan etc have done in the last few decades.

I was in Shanghai last month and can vouch that most of the China-built electric cars out there were all real lookers. It seems they keep the best designed cars for their local market and only export the ugly duckling models to the rest of the world. Perhaps because the good looking ones use other manufacturers design language and they'd get too many lawsuits abroad.
