routing cables between headliner and roof ?

Dear team,
we had the discussion on Dashcams and electronics already. I searched all forums on topics on headliner removal or how to route cabling from front to rear between roof and headliner. Did anyone of you do this already and will direct me to the respective article here. At the moment I am a bit confused on how to direct cable and perhaps a spare tube along the roof to the rear.
What I intend to do is install additional lighting (red / green / low light and dash cam cables of course.
If noone has attempted this fine with me then I have to do some research.

I had a specialty audio shop install my rear camera, Wolfbox and they ran the cables in the roof liner, and followed the same path as the wires for the rear wiper. Not sure how they did it, but audio shops can do it!!

Klaus - I plan the same for my dashcam and will drop the roof switch panel to do so. I have not had time to tackle this project, but I’ll watch this thread for more info.

Yes, mine is powered in the roof switch panel as well. Works like a charm!

Interesting topic, I'm thinking about the same problem: rear dashcam, cable to be routed to the front. Running it along the door sills is somewhat risky as the coax-cable is quite sensible and apart from that too short for this route.

I can change a crankshaft, if necessary. But removing and re-installing a head liner is an insurmountable obstacle for me.

That's why I'm counting on you.

I will also attempt to do the same just after the GP factor drop down rear table arrives. Will also add sound deadening to both rear doors. Will take some photos. As I recall one installation used a Poly Eiger 4mm 3.6m Yellow Poly Cable Feeder to snake the cable along the center roof line. The flat shape of this feeder would allow better directional control than an electrician’s fish line. While the Eiger cable feeder is priced between $5 to $10 (Australian) the shipping is $195!! This product does not appear to be available in North America.

I use vinyl coated aluminum clothes line. 50ft costs $5 and it is perfect for snaking cables or mocking up a brake line.

You can snake a cable without taking down the headlining by removing dashboard end caps, footwell panel, remove upper part of the front door seal and thread the wires to the back using a wire threader, along the edge inside the headliner.
