I booked a test drive with Dilawri INEOS Grenadier in Toronto. The sales manager, Jason Li, was super friendly and helpful. For those of you who are interested in test-driving a Grenadier in Eastern Canada, here is the contact information:

Stolen from this forum somewhere I think, but this front end shot really does show the similarities of the two imo.

Do any of you have a current G-Wagon in addition to the Grenadier? I'm considering buying one new and would like to talk to an owner. I am particularly interested in the experience of comparing the two vehicles. So far I've also had my eye on the G580. But I've changed my mind again. It will probably be a G400/450.

I have a 96gw, and have been in the subsequent updates. I'd say The gren is more akin to a slightly updated poverty pack early 2000's G320. Solid body. live axle. Meh trim level. No bling or luxury. I don't know why anyone would cross shop a brand new GW and this, if they can afford a new GW or demand GW luxury. Other than being box, it's really a different market unless INEOS reaaaaaly goes all out and up markets the interior and engine. .

The only model G wagen you can get in Australia.
That is equivalent to USD$282,709.
Definitely alternate to a Grenadier.
I love the catch phrase.
Developed on the race track & built for the mountains.
I assume those mountains have nice smooth black surfaces.

282K for a bling blinger with street tires vs a hard core off roader. No comparison. I dont have 280K and 48" rims are not for me.

Hi @DaveB I'm looking for a comparable off-roader that does its job reliably and that I can rely on one hundred per cent, not a show car. It has to work for me, just like the Grenadier, and will have to get by on forest tracks and forest roads just like the Grenadier. He must not be afraid of scratches and other work-related damage. Therefore, please no large, shiny chrome rims and sidepipes.

l've driven new Defender, old Defender, G-Wagon and Grenadier.

The new G-Wagon is like the Defender but with more attitude.
The Grenadier is like the old Defender but brought up to date and more capabilities on road.

The Grenadier is somewhere between the old Defender and new Defender. lt can't be compared with the G-Wagon. Well, it can, but it's unfair. The target market is completely different.

lt's like comparing the old Defender with the new Defender.

lf you can make any sense of that. l just re read what l wrote, and am not sure l even understand myself.

Oh, and we've also got a 2020 Suzuki Jimny. That's nearer to the old Defender and could be compared with the Grenadier, except the Jimny is about half the size.

I would say the Grenadier is more comparable to a 2013 - 18 G550 (W463) in terms of price and capability. I have AT 275/70/18s on mine. Lots of benefits to both drivability-wise, but I prefer the G-Wagon as a daily driver. The new G-Wagon is coming out in the USA about now. I've seen some of the reviews and they are largely positive but that's a completely different league in terms of pricing and the level of refinement does take away from its off-roadability.

Today I found myself being followed by aG-Wagon in grey but then wrapped. All blinged up and still looking nice.
I felt I was in the superior vehicle however, the base price of the G-Wagon meant he had paid almost double what I had paid. This left me feeling like the inferior being. Go figure! 🤷‍♂️😁

Never inferior. Top Gear put the ‘proper’ Defender into Sub Zero on their cool-wall. A truly cool vehicle. No idea where they put the G wagon, can’t imagine that it matters. For my money that puts the Grenadier down to Absolute Zero. Way cooler through rarity alone.

Hard cash can’t buy cool.

Last week I stopped at a small town called Bororen because it has good parking and clean public toilets plus.......
The Big Record Diner makes great coffee (fresh grind double espresso) plus excellent home made meat pies.
As usual when I got back to my vehicle someone was looking at it and wanted to know more about it.
He was currently towing a van with an SUV, which he said was comfortable but boring.
Previously he had been using a unimog and a Landrover Perentie 6WD.
Not sure what his Perenti looked like but at the bottom is the Australian army standard Perentie, SAS Perentie and the new Australian army Mercedes G Wagen version.
I think a Grenadier may well be on his shopping list.
