Try to disable HD Audio and or Spatial-Audio on your Bluetooth Settings on your Android Phone.

Yes, I share your pain ;)
Dont worry Taz - you are not alone. I have several people telling me they can hear a lot of road noise (although to me the inside isnt that noisy...). My voice to them is very light. So, some investigation required on a fix.

Some sort of in car microphone would help...

Does the IG really not have a mic? I always assumed people were kidding about that. If it's relying on the phone's mic, that's not good.

I had my phones sitting in the cupholders and made/received a couple of calls.
I was told it was clear and loud.
iPhone speaker is on bottom of the phone, which was down in the bottom of the cupholder.
Leads me to think that there must be a microphone somewhere.

I often keep my iPhone in my pocket or in the top pocket of my Belstaff jacket.
No one has complained so far.
I spoke to my wife on the phone straight after picking it up on the motorway in the summer, no problems.

Maybe it's a problem with android auto , which several of us have.
All hoping the big software patch will fix it.

SW Upgrade has not fixed this - people at the other end are still complaining that it sounds like I'm in a washing machine and can't really hear me properly - it is effectively unusable for me.

Android Auto - which works absolutely fine in many other vehicles - for sure an Ineos issue

Are you using a wireless adapter or cable in the c port? Have you tried with a genuine OEM or good quality data cable and not a cheaper none manufacturers charging cable. Are you using the same cable in the many other vehicles. As a previous thread have you restarted your phone before connecting. Then that leaves the in-built vehicle mic where ever it is. Sorry I don't have my vehicle yet to investigate further. ( last seen in a compound at Hambach)

I always knew there were varying quality levels of cables, but I watched a CT scan video yesterday where Adam Savage of Myth Busters fame showed the new Apple Thunderbolt USB-C cable and asked why it's 10X the cost of a good cable (US$130). I had no idea things had gotten so complicated / technologically advanced!

I'm using a cable in the c-port BUT I have the same problem if I use Bluetooth only and no Android Auto - so I really think its a problem with the vehicle

As for restarting my phone, I shouldn't need to do that so again I take that as a vehicle issue - everything else in Android Auto works fine and the audio that I get is really good if on the phone

I think that might be a bit OTT for the Grenadier.
[For @Jean Mercier benefit OTT is "over the top"]

Does seem to be the software or a physical mic location issue. Any idea where the mic is?

sorry for late reply. I had the phone in my jeans pocket. connected via bluetooth. sound was clear according to my wife. I can't imagine the phones microphone picking up my voice from inside my jeans pocket.

Mine does it very well. I have an S22 Ultra and when using 'phone only' she can hear the MIC pick up from the S22 better than AA connection to the Gren... which kinda defeats the purpose of having Handsfree in the vehicle. I am looking for a fix just no time at present.

My hands free, Bluetooth, OIS has been very good until post software update. Now, anyone I contact has complained of the poor phone quality. Switching to my Aeropex phones eliminates the problem. Something I need to chase up.

Not saying at this point that deterioration in hands free is software related but it is a coincidence
