MTA connector (jump start terminal)

Discussed in various/many other threads, but maybe worthy of a thread all to itself.

General location under the bonnet:

If you press the two circled tabs, then the whole top hinges open - well to the extent it is able:

I also thought mine was missing a bolt:

but it appears the there isn't a hole in the actual bracket:

That seems odd to me? Especially as when you view it from the rearside, there's a gap of several mm between the connector base and the support bracket:

Does look like an oversight. Would tapping a thread or installing a threaded insert help keep debris and water out?

It just needs a hole drilling through the bracket and nut & bolt added; unless there's a good reason Ineos left it off?

The other three look like spot welded studs, so maybe the robot was playing up that day or it got knocked off before installation?

Two questions. What does MTA stand for ? And what do you use for your negative connection for jump leads with the diesel engine. With the petrol engine I have a large engine lifting eye adjacent to the live jump terminal that is perfect fro the negative connection

I hadn't given it a great deal of thought but yes, there's a lifting eye there on the diesel also - it might be further away than the sounds on yours though.

I have a friend who came around to see my Grenadier at the weekend, he has a BMW with the B57 engine and tells me he has both positive and negative terminals under the bonnet. Maybe someone with a BMW could confirm this

That lifting ring is far more substantial and accessible than the ring in the B58.

So I've queried this with the agent, and received the following reply:

"I have checked all the INEOS we have on site and they are all the same, only have 3 bolts. When checking the connector doesn’t feel lose, so I would assume they all come like this."

Can anyone post if they DO have a stud/nut in this location? I can't think of a good reason for it not having one here, especially as there's a gap and movement on that edge.

Well maybe the final word on the missing stud:

"I have received a response from INEOS regarding this matter. They sent me a imagine of the bracket which was designed to be a 3 stud bracket."

Missing bolt possibly deliberate to reduce chaffing on the harness immediately below?
