Largest Functional Tire Without Mods

Just finally pulled the trigger on 285/70r/17 bfg + h&r spacers! No lift no cutting was required.

Car def feels heavier, but somehow they’re quieter and feel smoother on the road than my oem Bridgestones.

No rubbing whatsoever!

Hello
Does anyone use bf 285/70-17 with Dakar zero 8 x 17 ET45mm rims.
I'm afraid that they would look out of the fenders or hinder full turning.
I currently have 255/70-18 and don't want smaller ones. I would like a set of MT.

Best Regards Filip

BFG KO3 285/70/R17 on 17x8 ET 40 wheels. No rubbing and plenty more room to go 295 or larger, but I am happy with this look, performance and it barely fits in the garage as is. No lift. No rub at full lock. Does not extend past fender flares.

I am not a fan of wide tires on a 4x4. Sure, they may look good and can improve traction and handling on dry pavement (tarmac), but for most conditions that are encountered off road it is my opinion that wide tires are a detriment.

When the original tires wear out, I will probably replace them with BFG KO2 34 x 10.5 tires. These are rather expensive per tire, because of the unusual size. However, from my observation of the wheel wells at a 2B Tour event, I believe that they would fit with no modifications required. This should give me all the ground clearance that I will ever need for my intended purpose.
I run MT 285/55/17 (35"s) and are great. no rub at all. 10" wide.

Well, I took the plunge. Had road damage my stock, Bridgestone tire, so instead of chasing and putting money into them for replacement I just went with KO3’s 285/70r17. Went with the E rated.

They look big. When I first saw them, I did that internal nervous laughter like uh-oh. What have I done? Pic in the morning

They are 32.8” tall. That is considered a 33” tire. That isn’t really all that big on a Grenadier.
It’s not so much the width and height of the tire, if it forced me to get a lift that wouldn’t be the end of the world, but it might be the end of me parking in my 7 foot garage.

You don't need a lift to fit those and you are still under 7 feet but a few inches.
I know, but my wife would love it if it didn’t fit. Then she’d get to park in the garage.

With a KO twos 285/70 R 17s, what pressure are you guys running? I was up in the mountains on the highway going to high 80s miles per hour and I got an over pressure warning at 47 pounds. I think it’s just the way the TPS is set. also, what temperature are you guys seeing on your tires? Mine were between 100° and one of them the rear driver was 115. I don’t think that’s overall too hot but considering it was 55° out but I was interesting. Thought that the difference across them was interesting. E Rated tires.
